"The idea that if we just ban all guns Kasandra Perkins does not die and a 3-month-old baby is not orphaned is the very essence of a stated premise that fails to support its proposed conclusion. Yes, guns are dangerous and people such as Belcher sometimes use them to do awful things. What I believe in my heart is Jovan Belcher was going to find a way to wreak havoc that day whether he had a gun or a knife or only his fists. And even the potential to stop him is not justification for willingly handing over rights guaranteed to us."
It will be interesting to see what happens to Bob Costas. will the network stand behind their aged boy wonder? Or will the campaign against him lead to a "re-assignment".
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
It will be. I suspect he may get his hand slapped privately but it'll all blow over since he's espousing the liberal media ideology. While he's certainly entitled to his opinion I think he would do well to stick to what he's paid to do - sportscasting.
I doubt that he'll even get his hand slapped. Speaking the truth and having the gun-nuts go off the deep end should be a source of pride...Not something requiring any disciplinary action at all. I would consider outraging FauxNews a badge of honor.
It has happened before that people who speak the truth are run out of town on a rail. And while I disagree with Bob Costas here, I won't ask him to be taken off the air.
One thing to note, the NFL and CBS sports hires a lot of armed guards. So handguns are ok for your protectors, but not for the average citizen? Or only hired guns are ok?
Sen Ted Kennedy was another great example of a hypocrite, a career as an anti-gunner, but when his own security team broke gun laws, he defended them.

That seems to be ubiquitous among the hoplophobes - hypocracy and elitism - "do what I say, not what I do (because I'm better/smarter/more important/more valuable to society than you)". Bloomberg and his armed security. Feinstein and her CCW permit. But the rest of us should forfeit our right to self-defence. What mandarins!

And don't forget he rode on airplanes, then railed against global warming- He should have got around on a rickshaw or something.. And seriously- did Kennedy really have anything to fear? Its not like somebody was gonna try to shoot him in the head or anything?
