Colorado voters show an approval rating of over 80% in favor of this bill.
Now if only those same Dems can stop putting their feet in their mouth. The speaker might have to put a gag order on his own party before they start spouting more stupidity.

It is not as blue as you would like to think it is either. There are a lot of independent voters that will vote either way depending on the issue. I could imagine that if the issue of gun control came up during elections this last cycle we would have a very different looking state house.
It is still not in the bag Hickenlooper may still veto these bills
A lot of Republicans who lost their seats in the statehouse had Libertarians steal enough votes for the Dems to win. Some of these Dems didn't get 50% of the vote.

Whining again about how Republican's losses are everybody's fault but their own?
Colorado is a very independent state, neither red, nor blue.....and conservatives attempts to make it a red state have backfired. While some may agree with conservatives on fiscal and gun issues.....Coloradans reject the social agenda being offered by conservatives. Historically Coloradans have supported some restrictions on guns......so this is not without precedent.
I found this interesting
Since the Newtown elementary-school shooting, unprecedented numbers of Colorado residents are scrambling to buy guns. And when asked in polls if they support gun rights, they say: "Yes. We don't need new laws; we need to enforce the ones we have," said Denver pollster Floyd Ciruli. However, a majority also back a ban on assault-style weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
"It depends on whether the question is philosophical or about a particular weapon," he said.
