So can you show me the sign that said CLosed Except for Vets?

Why should national Parks get funding and not furloughed workers, or head start kids...you let the government close you get the consequences.

Poor Rick, still digging to justify his "outrage". According to the DOI Closure Determination and Notice posted on October 1, 2013, veterans would be allowed to enter the War Memorial. This was reported in legitimate news reports and by the local rangers staffing the site. Of course it is much better to rely upon a photoshopped image for your "outrage".

It's a step in the right direction dog, Fred doesn't usually give any source. Maybe we will see a real source one of these days.......or maybe not.

Claim the Fred exemption dog, no source required....or follow Fred's example and Photoshop one. I wouldn't give any conservative here what they don't require from one of their own.

Something the Dog Said wrote: Except that the memorial was never closed to the veterans. The "outrage" was manufactured photo ops by the Republicans and the attack on the park ranger was totally unwarranted.

Which, of course, is why the people who run the Honor Flights were told last Tuesday that they should not expect that subsequent groups would be able to visit the memorial, right? Did you miss that part of the story Dog or did you simply decide to pretend it didn't exist because it disproves the talking point you picked up in that echo chamber of yours?

It was closed to everyone, including veterans. The veterans are not there exercising 1st Amenment rights. They are not holding demonstrations, they are not there to protest anything to do with the failure of the Democrats to negotiate on the CR or to rebuke the Republicans for anything. No, they are there because they are old and frail and might die before they get another chance to visit the memorial that the grateful citizens of the Union erected, with private funds I might add, as a way of honoring their sacrifices to preserve freedom in our world. That has nothing at all to do with 1st Amendment rights. The Obama administration got caught with something in their zipper and had to find something, anything, to try and get the egg off of the face of the administration, so this is what they came up with.

At no time in the past were the open air memorials barricaded. At no time in the past have barricades (or perhaps I should call them Barrycades?) been put up to keep people from pulling off of a public highway to stop and gaze at Mt. Rushmore. Neither have the proprietors of the private businesses which pay leases to the federal government to operate on national land ever been told to close up and move out until now.

You can see it in everything this pretender has done with regards to the partial shutdown that has resulted from his unwillingness to negotiate thus far. The federal government didn't have to shut down because of the lack of a CR, Obama, Reid and the rest of the cabal could have chosen to accept the fact that the citizens of the States elected representatives with the intention of preventing the (un)Affordable Care Act from taking effect and accepted the CR as it was passed in the House while they continued to fight for the ACA. But no, negotiation isn't a word in our current president's vocabulary. It is what he wants, exactly how he wants it or he's going to take his pens and go on vacation. The job of the leader is to negotiate the compromise, not to say that no negotiations will take place. Reagan invited Tip O'Neil in for some chats and together the two of them found a way to go forward that neither was truly happy with, but that both could live with. That's how a leader leads. Obama, arbitrarily, delayed parts of his law for one year, so why would he not be willing to consider delaying the whole law until 1 january 2015? He has issued over 1200 waivers from the law to date, why not waive the whole thing a bit longer? Because it wasn't his idea?

Why not accept the CR and draw his red line in December and use the extra time to actually negotiate with the loyal opposition for a change? The law is obviously flawed, obviously not ready for implementation, otherwise the employer mandate wouldn't have been delayed for a year and 1200 waivers would not have been issued. There are so many paths here that he could have chosen that would have kept the government operating at unconscionable, and to use his phrase, unpatriotic levels for another 3 months while he and Boehner negotiated a compromise ala Reagan and O'Neil, but this president doesn't negotiate - at least not with Republicans.

PrintSmith, you already know this, supporting your point(s) with logic and facts doesn't work on Obamabots.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
