You are forgetting that automobiles were the regular mode of transportation by the end of WWII, not horse and buggy. You are also forgetting that Social Security was alive and well by then. You seem bent on ignoring that the average for the last 70 years includes the 1960's, when Medicare was introduced, along with the 1970's, the 1980's, the 1990's and, of course, the last decade of the last century.

The reason you attempted ridicule was that it was the only avenue of response open to you because the facts are just not on your side here. Tax revenues at the federal level are going to average 18% of GDP over time. If we don't want deficits, don't want to keep adding to the unconscionable and, according to Obama, "unpatriotic" $17 Trillion worth of public debt, then the federal government needs to figure out how to exist on 18% of the Union's GDP. If it can't, or won't, do that, then nothing is going to change.

A budget which calls for 22%-25% of the Union's GDP is not beneficial to the general welfare of the Union, it is harmful to it. Regardless of income and capital gains tax rates, tax exemptions, tax deductions, what the income tax level and excise tax levels to fund Social Security and Medicare are, the total revenue received by the federal government as a share of GDP has averaged 18% over the last 70 years. Through booms and busts, economic good times and economic bad times, the tax revenue for the federal government has averaged 18%. This then is the target amount for the federal budget. Spend more than that and you will be running a deficit and adding to the national debt. Spend less than that and you will likely have a budget surplus that can be used to pay down the unconscionable debt we have already incurred. It really is just that simple. Spending by the federal government has to be reduced to 18% of the Union's annual GDP.

Please explain, this should be a good one. If it was the fault of the TEA-Party, the public would actually be applauding Obama for standing up to them. He would be getting 60% approval, not 30 per cent.

Of course Big Dougy thinks this is wrong. Those families knew what their kids were getting into when they joined the military and deserve nothing.
