Who voted against proposal to keep your insurance?

Rick, just be happy you don't live in Concord NH

Only one insurer on the NH exchange and the only Hospital in Concord doesn't accept Obamacare.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/29/health/ob ... s-limited/

Concord's one hospital won't accept any policies offered by the marketplaces. To see a doctor, specialist or primary care provider affiliated with the hospital, patients on these Obamacare plans will have to pay out of their own pocket. The closest in-network hospital is in Manchester.

I've been self employed for 20 years and have only had an individual policy since I was 30... no insuranc before that, I paid cash. I can't get a straight answer from Kaiser because they are still trying to figure out if I can be grandfathered in even though the policy I've been fine with doesn't meet every requirement. I still have bad neuropathy in my feet and hands because of the chemo so I may just go on disability and medicare which means I may still be able to keep kaiser and my doctors but will still be paying as much.

So instead Of being able to be self sufficient working odd jobs while I try to save enough to start another business, I may have to suck off the taxpayers for a while... the last thing I wanted to do. I have paid into SS for 35 years and never expected to see much back, so I don't feel all that guilty about it. I have guarantee PET scans every six months for another two years along with colonoscopys with Kaiser, and I DO NOT want to lose these doctors until I'm out of the woods. So whatever it takes, I'm trying to stay with Kaiser.

The BOLDED....document EVERYTHING.....time,date, person....what was said.....from experience.....it is a "goat rope" to plow thru the bureaucratic maze, let alone KP's maze....
because a "bone density" test WAS a benefit on my plan(over a dozen years ago) and then it
was dropped UNTIL this year when the preventive medicine clause was introduced .

I scheduled a bone density test at the beginning of this year (it was COVERED,NO CHRG.) UNTIL I got my statement....they allowed a portion and applied the rest to my annual deductible......it took me MANY,many phones calls, documentation, follow thru,ASSERTIVE
conversations,ESCALATING the issue until they admitted they were wrong, corrected the
deductible and PAYED THE HOSPITAL for the density test......a total of about 45 days of
intense follow thru.....it probably would have gotten corrected over a 3 or 4 month time frame
they suggested I pay the bill and they would reimburse me.....(NOT)....I do NOT wait for my
$$$ when it was billed incorrectly in the first place......the IRONY of the situation....about
3 months later I got a letter of APOLOGY from KP....indicating they were sorry for the screw
up....(it took a TOTAL of 4 months for the "NEW" preventive care clause to be incorporated
into the system.) I would expect THIS new program (grandfathering) will be about the "same
experience.....JMO

Gov't defined Preventative care tests may be "free" (free=pre-paid in premium +20% + taxes and fees)
Diagnostic and treatment related tests and visits-probably not.
Another little noted item that will probably catch the lo fo's off guard when they get their first Obamacare provider bill. IMO

And anyone who thinks that the ACA bureaucratic maze will be any less f'ked up... well, let me see if I can get you the deed to the Charles Bridge when I'm in Prague next week. (You see, topical joke, Brooklyn Bridge, Charles Bridge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bridge ).

I'm unclear how that is applied.....our employee plan did NOT increase from last year, our benefits
did not change, but the "bone density" test was now included as an option.....(of course I am
Medicare age....perhaps THAT applies?)......I am pretty much an "alien" to medical procedures,
expenses, navigating thru Medicare because our PRIMARY insurance is thru AT&T....and Medicare
has not been something I have navigated thru.....

I suspect when they start losing their patients to the Manchester hospital they will rethink their policy. Manchester is only 15 minutes away.

I'm sure they do, but didn't know if LOL did when he posted that Rick was lucky he didn't live in Concord. Quite possibly the Manchester hospital is closer to Concord than a Kaiser hospital is to Rick.

Uh, yes Archer I do know where Concord NH is, been there several times and have a good friend from HS who lives there currently. Nice city, except for anyone stuck with Obamacare mandates. They have to drive to the next closest city now, no problem for you I guess.

Thanks for your concerns, assumptions and geography tips though.

15 minutes to the next city, you bet that's no problem.
