Impeachment proceedings against Trump

I see many parallels with Watergate.... and the country was divided then as it is now. What I do not see (at least not yet) is the Trump supporters being concerned about anything that is going on. I have read some Fox stories and I have made a point of checking out Fox news from time to time - I like to see how topics are portrayed from at least 3 news sources before I make up my mind about where I am on that particular subject. Certainly Fox news tends to portray things in a favorable light for PTrump. Even though I say I know plenty of people who do little or nothing at all to educate themselves in what's going on in the world, I guess I just have a hard time digesting the fact that none of his supporters are able to look at the current status of things coming from the white house and not be at least a little bit concerned. I'm sure some of you are going to say that's silly... wishful thinking, rose colored glasses, but someone please tell me how this country got to the point... again, where everyone thinks there is only one side to everything, I'm right, you're wrong..... and no ability what so ever to even try to find any common ground. My problem with our current commander in chief really started with the dishonestly, snow balled with the name calling and derision, and was capped off with the press being the enemy of the state. In reality, the real problem is the constant state of chaos. I'm sure some of you have worked in places where turn over is high. It really does not matter if it is from firings, lay offs or people quitting, any time you have high turn over, things get missed. How does anything get done at all when you don't even know who your boss and/or co-workers are from day to day? To top it all off, like Sessions or not, it seems to me he has done what his boss asked him to, with the exception of get rid of the Russia investigation - which he cannot do, he is an attorney and therefore sworn to uphold the law. Now.... certainly there are bad opinions of attorneys and I've worked for many of them in my life and all of them occasionally find ways to push the limits of gray areas for the benefit of their client. but any attorney that flat out breaks the law will likely not be an attorney very long - ask John Dean..... I guess I'm rambling a bit, but I'm really just kind of reeling at the current state of affairs, wondering how we got here... and how in the world we are going to get things straightened out so that this country can start working together to make things better for its citizens, solving problems like infrastructure, drug overdoses, homelessness, hate crimes, mass shootings.... This is what we see in the news every day and I just wonder when will it get better - or will it get better at all? and if it does not, will this democracy survive the people's pursuit of having it our own way? ;) pretty sure I know a couple of people that are going to pounce on me lol I may or may not defend myself

Anyone who's been paying attention for the last year should have know Sessions was not going to last for much longer. He had far less reason to recuse himself than Rosenstein yet he did and Rod did not (Rod still has lots of splainin to do)

None of this matters at all because when it comes to Russian collusion, there was none by Trump, PERIOD. All of you should know this because nothing remains a secret in this government so if there was any evidence, it would have been spilled a year ago. There was collusion by the Clinton campaign with Russians which was one of the main reasons this whole trumped up investigation was started. This will go down as one of the most worthless and embarrassing investigations ever, with a dozen Russians being implicated who will never see a minute in a US courtroom. The fact that this silly thread still continues makes me laugh.

As far as comparisons to Watergate, I see it too. Trump's campaign was spied by a lot of people who wanted him to go down. If this had happened to a Democrat, the media would have come unglued.

Looks like President Trump is trying to bribe the Democrat members of the House this week. Don't impeach me and I will give you a shiny new infrastructure bill and tons of pork to hand out to your districts. Do the Democrats want to take the money and not impeach the POTUS? They might consider this, after Clinton was impeached, his popularity improved.

NOT a question of collusion from my POV......but rather OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. That is riding heavily on many minds.....I see Mueller is finalizing his report as we "speak" and just as a side note the appointment of Whitaker (without going ]thru appropriate channels) is UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND WILL BE CHALLENGED BY MUELLER if Whitaker attempts any
challenges to what Mueller is going to ask/do. Legal eagles have been scrutinizing this scenario. Rick.....you really should do more research.

So quite a flurry of activity, or suspicious inactivity in some cases, in the past week and news media were set up at the NY courthouse today where Mueller convenes his grand jury; indictments are expected to be announced soon with Roger Stone friend Jerome Corsi stating publicly that he's going to be indicted for perjury. Stone and Donald Trump Jr have both been saying that they too expect to be indicted.

Eight of the attorneys in the Office of Special Counsel worked yesterday, Michael Cohen is in New York and has reportedly provided over 80 hours worth of testimony. Rumors are that Michael Cohen claims that he's helped Trump pay women (anywhere from 8-12) to get abortions and keep quiet about it.

Rupert Murdoch had an after-hours meeting in Mitch McConnell's office on November 8 and right after that:

Team Mueller is Holding ‘Dozens of Sealed Indictments,’ According to Intel Source
By John R. Schindler • 11/09/18 12:51pm

For every day of his presidency—657 so far, if you’re counting—the issue of Donald J. Trump’s ties to Russia has darkened the Oval Office door. Since May 17, 2017, when former FBI director Robert S. Mueller was appointed Special Counsel to unravel Trump’s secret Kremlin linkages, the president has seethed, his rage seeping into his tweets. From its first day, President Trump has wanted to quash the Mueller investigation, and now he’s making his move.

But is it already too late? There’s mounting evidence it is, specifically that Team Mueller is ready to strike imminently with indictments, no matter what the White House does.

When Mueller informs the public of more indictments is an open question. That they are coming, however, is not. And there are lots of them. The Special Counsel has been at work for almost 18 months now. An Intelligence Community official who assisted the Special Counsel’s investigation told me this week that Team Mueller is holding “dozens of sealed indictments” of people associated with the president, his 2015-16 campaign, and his administration. “Nobody who’s close to the Russians is getting out of this,” said the IC official.

The Trump Russia Indictments: What To Expect
By Louise Mensch
November 10, 2018

America had barely a morning to digest dramatic Democrat successes before Donald Trump fired Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General, and appointed his Chief of Staff Matt Whitaker, a foe of the Russia probe. Mr Trump’s latest attempt to derail his own prosecution is not going at all well. But rather than recap the many tribulations of Trump’s putative Acting Attorney General – whether Whitaker’s appointment is even legal is being questioned – here are some key points on Mueller’s endgame:

The Watergate Road Map: What It Says and What It Suggests for Mueller
By Jack Goldsmith, Benjamin Wittes, Lawfare Blog

In neat script near the top of the document, someone has written, “Filed under seal, March 1, 1974.” Above that, red typed letters read, “Unsealed October 11, 2018 by Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell, United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Order No. 11-mc-44 (BAH).

The Jaworski “Road Map,” the last great still-secret Watergate document, became public Wednesday when the National Archives released it under Judge Howell’s ruling from earlier this month. It sees the light of day for the first time in four and a half decades at a remarkable moment, one in which a different special prosecutor is considering the conduct of a different president and reportedly contemplating—as Watergate Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski once did—writing a report on the subject.

The document’s release owes a great deal to the legal team at Protect Democracy, which represented Stephen Bates and the two of us in seeking its unsealing.

Julian Assange has been charged, prosecutors reveal inadvertently in court filing
By Matt Zapotosky and Devlin Barrett
November 15 at 11:19 PM

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been charged under seal, prosecutors inadvertently revealed in a recently unsealed court filing — a development that could significantly advance the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and have major implications for those who publish government secrets.

The disclosure came in a filing in a case unrelated to Assange. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kellen S. Dwyer, urging a judge to keep the matter sealed, wrote that “due to the sophistication of the defendant and the publicity surrounding the case, no other procedure is likely to keep confidential the fact that Assange has been charged.” Later, Dwyer wrote the charges would “need to remain sealed until Assange is arrested.”

Dwyer is also assigned to the WikiLeaks case. People familiar with the matter said what Dwyer was disclosing was true, but unintentional.

I do not play poker, but because of "casino Royale" movie (Bond 007) I now know what a "tell" is.......a slight or subtle sign that a person is bluffing. Trump LOVES to create chaos, so the media is just mimicking his mode of operation.

So the 2018 elections have come and passed. Will the House Democrats impeach President Trump now? Knowing that the GOP Senate will not convict him. Or will they pursue their agenda and try to work some bipartisan deals with the GOP in the Senate and White House? I can imagine there will be some Democratic congress people who want to run for president in 2020 and would love the free publicity of the long trial to impeach Donald Trump. But history shows that Bill Clinton's impeachment probably helped him in the years afterwards.

They have to be sworn in in January first, and then start making all the requests that have been squashed by the Republicans who've been in charge of various committees first so they can uncover the facts of what's going on. Pelosi has stated that she does not intend to even consider impeachment until Mueller is finished and/or Congressional investigations are conducted so there's no need to put the cart before the horse. We all want the facts, do we not?

Mueller himself signaled last week that he was still gathering evidence (and had to answer a brief about Whitaker, which was filed today, below) when he requested to hold off on the sentencing for Gates and Manafort, and brought Cohen in for more testimony. And then there's this: Mariia Butina might've struck a deal ...

NEW Mueller brief filed in Court of Appeals, DC Circuit, addressing Whitaker appointment and what it does to a subpoena fight to get testimony from a Roger Stone associate. In short, special counsel lawyers say the change in who's in charge "has no effect on this case."

There are still a lot of questions to be answered. I will be annoyed if those considering running for president put themselves first above this investigation; there are more important things to focus on than an election 2 years away.

It would be nice to see everyone working together in a bi-partisan fashion, but right off the bat McConnell threw up barriers on passing legislation to protect Mueller even though he's got support from both sides of the aisle, so I'm not optimistic. Frankly, I don't want to see Dems getting ahead of themselves and thinking they should go gung-ho on everything on their platform. We have corruption to root out first.

IF Pelosi maintains her position and still is speaker of the house,I believe her intent is NOT to pursue impeachment immediately........TAX RETURNS are first on the list because all things lead to MONEY.......following the money and allowing the public to truly comprehend the gravity of the financial gains the have been questionable for years......pretty sure Mueller has that info but not sure public will ever receive it.....same for his report, optional that he would release to public,as I understand it.......FOLLOW THE MONEY is first priority.JMO
