From the Washington Post...

If her estimates are right....1 million folks joined Mr Beck for a day at the Lincoln Memorial.

Most of the news reports had the attendance at about 87,000 for Mr. Beck, a far cry from one million and much less than the 500,000 he had projected.

Considering that we DIDN'T get McCain and half-Governor Moosemeat, I'm feeling pretty damned good about it. Given the fact that I'm one of the "Professional Left", I'm VERY disappointed that Obama didn't do more, didn't go farther. If he'd started out by doing what he said he was going to do, (before Ted Kennedy died), and quit worrying about the bi-partisan crap, which the GOP had already decided that they weren't going to allow to happen under any circumstances, he might have accomplished something.

As it is, I'm still feeling like the vote I cast was the best one... I will do it again, because no matter who the GOP puts up, they will not be acceptable to me.

As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.

The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House.

Hundreds of thousands of people from around the country converged on a hot summer day at the National Mall to watch Beck and Sarah Palin talk about what they called "restoring honor."

I don't believe there were a million people there, not even close.

I've lived in the DC area and when a million people convene, YOU KNOW IT.

The same as I've felt after every other presidential election.

I've never known a presidential candidate who didn't break campaign promises. And that's depressing.

National Mall Left Spotless After Beck Rally

I am thinking there were a boatload of people at this rally. I have also been to the Lincoln Memorial and that area can easily hold 200-300k people right in the mall. with other areas holding as many.

Sigh.

Does it matter how many people were there?

My question is....

Was the message transformative?

Who feels transformed?

In what way?

What will you do tomorrow and for the next year or ten that you wouldn't have if you hadn't heard this message?

Tell me, I really want to know.

i haven't seen the rally but i knew it was going to take place because i watch glenn beck.

i know that i am going to get out in my neighborhood and talk to people about registering to vote and working for changes at the local, state and national level. if we band together and make it known what we want done then change, too many people losing jobs and homes, can happen.

there are a number of people on this board that i think feel the same way. we have to get active in our community and make a difference.
