Seriously Pinecam? Seriously?????

Thank you CinnamonGirl for making the effort, thinking you would be working with like minded people who want to support the good cause of TSAC.

Now we know it isn't possible.

And frankly I would prefer to stay away from anything associated with PC. Not a member and really don't ever intend to be. They are just too bizarre watching them decide who stays and who goes, locking threads, etc. Not surprising behavior.

285bound will do it better. Thank you!

A shame that such a worthwhile organization is in the middle of this.....

I only got this far in this thread and I gotta say: It doesn't sound like a worthwhile organization to me. People, myself included sometimes do good things for selfish reasons... This TSAC sounds like a buch of brownie baking fussbudgets looking to pat themselves on the back for "supporting the troops"

Just my opinion-For whatever its worth-

Lets start our own group CG, I've got some old porn DVD's to contribute- afterall thats what they really want, not brownies, cookies, lil hoods, lil goods, and lil do-dads from the woods

This is not about whether it is a worthwhile organization........ Let's stay focused on what it is about at least. But I am letting it go.

At that time I still thought that the members should not be penalized for the issues between two sites. And that is partially why I suggested what I did. Personally, I would not have continued after the back and forth delays that happened. It really should have a yes or no answer but they wanted a bunch of assurances. Personally, I would have pulled out at that point because that was not what the point of what this was. However, it went through but it was with an understanding that TSAC was not part of Pinecam. The reason this is important is because if it was part of PC we had no problem wanting them over here. We just thought the members could all work together since it was not a Pinecam operation. And yes we were warned and we should not have tried. I take responsibility for that. Of course, I was well aware of the problems with some of our members and Pinecam. This is why this distinction of TSAC being part of PC was so important.

I disagree, we absolutely should have tried, and did. I have no issues whatsoever whether TSAC is a Pinecam entity or not (and they are a separate nonprofit org, btw). My goal in attempting to work with them was for the benefit of the troops, and I thought that partnering with an already established organization would be more effective than re-inventing the wheel and having our own group that would, essentially, end up competing with TSAC for precious donations from the community - which is the last thing I ever wanted. It's hard enough to get people to participate, and I know they've struggled with getting volunteers and donations, so us having a separate group potentially could harm TSAC, and therefore those they serve. I didn't want that, I wanted us to combine efforts, with our active and generous members, and their well-known name and well-oiled procedures, so that together we could do the most good for the troops.

And I still want that. If given the chance, I would make the same choice over again to reach out to them and get them posting over here too. Am I disappointed that it hasn't been more productive and interactive? Yes. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to give up. I hope that, some day, those who make things happen in TSAC will begin utilizing the resources they have here, and posting requests for volunteers on collection days, and help with packing and baking. Because there's no reason why it shouldn't happen - it's not about "who's home to TSAC", it's about helping those in need. Period.

I would still love to also work with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as they do great work. I unfortunately misplaced the business card that I was given, and I've dropped the ball in not making more of an effort to find them. If anyone has their contact info, I would appreciate it. Thx.

What a load of crap.
Why do I feel like I just got flipped off.
Welcome to Pinecam II. It's why I have been out of here for awhile.
Creating your own organization is not competing with TSAC. It is an addition to their good work.
It's also what many of your members would prefer......Does that matter anymore?
Thousands of people send things to the troops every day. It's not rocket science.
You are not being completely honest SC and I have no respect for those who are not honest.
There appears to be some confusion as to TSAC's involvement with Pinecam. ***** apparently believes they are affiliated.
They have stated as such in your very own Conifer Chamber of Commerce add.
Who brought this issue to the forefront SC?

What really pisses me off is having someone who busted there ass for you thrown under a bus.
I have a great memory and am quite clear on the facts surrounding this whole situation.

By the way....Your contact for the Ladies Auxiliary can be found at ANY VFW breakfast.
If you were up here more and spent time at the breakfasts......you would know that.

I don't know if people posting in this thread are really serious about wanting answers to various questions or just want to vent because of some published statement about pc and TSAC. I'm hoping my posting won't create more of a problem, but I am hoping we can have a productive discussion.

I'll try to add whatever clarification I can based on what I am aware of.

As I've shared in the past when the TSAC organization was under attack, I've volunteered with TSAC (festivals, making chillers, Christmas goodies and packing events, primarily) for about 3 years. I agreed to serve as the Treasurer in the March 2011 annual meeting. I have met some great people and fellow TSAC volunteers through my involvement with the charity. This past annual meeting (March 2012) the officers elections resulted in the other 3 positions (2 Co-Chairs and the Secretary) turning over and I continued in my Treasury position. ***** **** is not an officer of this organization.

After reading through the past 5 pages of posts, it appears that the underlying issue most are citing in some form are fashion is that they have a problem with ***** ****. That is the reason why I commented on the current TSAC officers, above. I don't know what the past (or present) issues are with this one person, but I wonder why so many of you equate TSAC (and its actions or posts/comments/published statements linking pc with TSAC) with ***** ****. Wouldn't it be more productive and less frustrating to talk directly to her instead of using this form of communication?

Mountain Dollar and the other TSAC volunteers that are members of this site are good people. I don't think they were (nor was I) aware of whatever published release or statement that resulted in this thread. I seriously doubt the other officers made that statement. I'm also not aware of any of us wanting recognition nor a pat on the back for our volunteer efforts. What surprises me is the hostility and negatively that is thrown our way simply because of our support of our troops through our volunteering with TSAC. We are all active members of 285Bound. So, in effect, there are TSAC volunteers on both of the community websites and so the organization is represented here on this site through certain members.

Personally, I haven't been active on posting on the TSAC subforum because of the negativity when we first started it on our site. Nonetheless, since there are some that seem to be unsettled that some events have been posted after the fact, I will try to make the effort and time to post about upcoming events. I would welcome your presence at one of our events and am looking forward to working side-by-side with you.

I will be helping out at the TSAC booth tomorrow morning at the Rhubarb Festival (it starts at 7:30). If you happen to be going, please stop by and say hello. If I'm not there, I might be at the next booth (IMHS) to help them for a couple of hours.

As I shared with Becky at a Conifer VFW breakfast last year, it doesn't matter to me and others whether a person supports TSAC or some other organization for sending much-appreciated comfort items, cards, and well wishes to our troops. I know many send things on their own and that is great. Our community takes care of their own and I am amazed at their generosity. I was proud of the shipment Becky organized late last year and thankful for the donations of our members to that shipment.
