Anyways, I like the idea of Becky's for another get together. Our whole family went to a retirement home in Evergreen last year and sang Christmas songs to them on Christmas Day. I called ahead and got a list of everyone's names so we were able to give each one of them a card. Franz and Tanner cut down small trees and the girls and I decorated them with home-made Christmas cookies and ornaments. We had a blast! Franz even sang a few songs in German and I think one it Latin too. He even made his MOST AMAZING Kruffen for the residents. We had these at our Christmas party and they are Heaven! We're on board for this - what a great idea!

How about this? We get a very large trailer and make it a 285Bound hayride type float with dozens of us on it driving up and down the streets singing Christmas Carols.

So long as it has studded tires and really good brakes...............

What is kruffen?

Great idea Viking for something around here. See Paca, if you would have come you would know. Just kidding. I like giving you a hard time. They are these big donut type desserts. It's hard to describe. Franz takes the whole morning making them and the house has to be at just the right temperature and everything. They are so sinful!!!!

I noticed that too. I remember a time when there were 40-50 people posting and responding in there and we were free to actually debate adn discuss our opinions without being cenmsored or deleted or banned. Now I see the same dozen or less names discussing everything in the study.

The reason Pinecam never mentions this site is they don't want to let people know that it exists.

I'll tell ya Viking - I've had topics just get locked or evaporate in thin air. I wish I could have those posts back - so I can post them here.

Most of the topics were pretty important community issues. I think they want Pinecam to be all sugar and spice and everything nice.

But that's not reality.

I stay out of this type of discussion because I'm not good at confrontation but Wayne said something that caught my eye. He said something about Pinecam not having a thread saying bad things about the 285Bound picnic. I have searched and searched on Pinecam for anything to do with 285Bound. I have found very few posts about this site at all and nothing as negative as many, many threads and comments made here about Pinecam. I'm only registered here and on ParkBull but I read all of the local sites. You can deny it all you want but there is a very obvious fixation here about how horrible Pinecam is. To a smaller degree, other sites complain about 285Bound, Pinecam and each other but it is to a much smaller degree.

I'm beginning to understand why Pinecam has opted for strict TOS. I find things I like about all of the sites but, after researching Wayne's comment for myself, I realized no one on Pinecam wastes their time bashing anyone or any other site. That is a significant "plus" about their site as far as I'm concerned.

I doubt I would ever attend a public function for either site but if I had to choose, I would probably rather go to theirs. The few times I've voiced an opinion over here I've been attacked and probably will be for this as well.

Wayne, thank you for prompting me to look more closely at both sites. Knowledge is power.

I have never posted anything negative about Pinecam - until today. I can no longer keep quiet about what my experiences have been. I belong to Pinecam myself but I can tell you that the site is censored. If you like reading censored material - then Pinecam is the site for you.

If you want to see what folks are really thinking- then your going to have to find a site that does not remove posts, edit posts or delete entire topics.

I think if you want to talk about your pet - and how cute it is- post pictures of your hummingbirds etc. then you will never have a problem on Pinecam. However, if you want to engage your political opinion or discuss controversial subjects that really matter in a community- you will run into trouble.

So it just depends on what you want to do. I put alot of time into posts that I think are important- my view is important to ME - and I don't appreciate someone coming along and deleting it willy nilly. I spent the time to post it because I wanted it out there.

On a site that allows your opinion - you may read stuff you don't agree with or like. That's what happens on open minded web sites. I'll take open and free over closed minded and censored any day.

I have noticed that the "study" only has a fraction of the active users that it once did, probably because many of those folks came over to this site.

I've never meet you, but that was extremely well said. Not putting down any site, but that was a great explanation of a core difference of the sites. I think some people might feel more comfortable with a site that is more moderated, and some prefer less/no moderation. I like the second one better for me, but I can see how some would feel more secure in a site that is heavily moderated.

Perhaps if I am woman had endured the long history of Pinecam...she would better understand what it is like to be shut away from your community.

I realized no one on Pinecam wastes their time bashing anyone or any other site. That is a significant "plus" about their site as far as I'm concerned.

You try to tell that to the businesses and people who have been trashed by Pinecam and it's members in the past.
Pacamom is right. The simply delete the negative references or anything that they deem inappropriate so it is a little difficult to find.
As for Parkbull which seems to be your website of choice after a little research....now there is a site that allows it's limited registered users to bash whatever the owner is in favor of and does not allow those bashed an opportunity to defend themselves. They have entire threads dedicated to the bashing of specific individuals as well as this site.
Now that is a behavior to be proud of!
So you think it is fair that Parkbull be allowed to trash this site without anyone here being able to respond?
I find it interesting that you want to voice an opinion here about how negative you find this site and then dare to challenge anyone to disagree with it by calling their behavior bashing.
The difference in all of these sites is that YOU CAN voice your opinion here. Yes....you may be taken to task by those who disagree with you.....but you can still post that you think 285bound sux if you like.
I personally think this is the best thing to happen to our community in years. 285bound has given a lot of people a voice for the first time in many years.
Unfortunately...I am woman....your knowledge is limited.
(Perhaps a more exclusive website is your cup of tea)
It is no accident that so many people are frustrated and seek a different option.
Perhaps Pinecam and Parkbull should listen a little closer to their customer base. (if they care)

750 people in just 6 months can't all be wrong. It took Pinecam about 1 year and 9 months just to get 500 users. They are coming over here quickly as most see that this is what this community has been missing lately.
