If you want to see what folks are really thinking- then your going to have to find a site that does not remove posts, edit posts or delete entire topics.

I think if you want to talk about your pet - and how cute it is- post pictures of your hummingbirds etc. then you will never have a problem on Pinecam. However, if you want to engage your political opinion or discuss controversial subjects that really matter in a community- you will run into trouble.

So it just depends on what you want to do. I put alot of time into posts that I think are important- my view is important to ME - and I don't appreciate someone coming along and deleting it willy nilly. I spent the time to post it because I wanted it out there.

On a site that allows your opinion - you may read stuff you don't agree with or like. That's what happens on open minded web sites. I'll take open and free over closed minded and censored any day.

I have noticed that the "study" only has a fraction of the active users that it once did, probably because many of those folks came over to this site.

While I don't disagree that there is far too much interference on the part of the mods on PC, I need to interject here and say that I do actively post political opinion and discuss controversial topics and I've not once EVER had one of my posts deleted or modified, and not one of the topics that I've started deleted (and I don't know a single Mod personally and you can check my posts to see that I've never kissed @$$ either). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but how snarky, demeaning, or disrespectful one's words are in response to others is their own fault (and I'm not aiming this at you BearMtnHIB just because I'm quoting your post, it just had the sentence I highlighted above that made me want to respond) and subject to editing if it falls under the TOS. If it's a bitter pill to swallow, then objectively step back check your own replies before posting and ask yourself if you'd like to be talked to that way. It doesn't take much effort to debate others in a respectful manner, even if they are annoying or angering you, and then you don't get deleted and even find that others will respond better back to you - it's a win-win.
