I posted a comment earlier in this thread that said I didn't understand why so many folks were fighting. It never made it to the thread.

Perhaps due to what I call 'Topic Review', which, as I understand it, is supposed to be a good thing, and is part of the software.

If someone else posted while you were creating your post, your post will not be posted immediately when you hit 'submit', instead you get an opportunity to review what you wanted to post in light of the latest post. Then, if you want to go ahead and post it anyway, you have to hit 'submit' again, or you can revise your post.

If you don't recognize the need to hit 'submit' again, as I frequently don't, your post will not be submitted.

IMO, it is not a case of 'moderation', but rather a situation where the software is supposed to be protecting us from ourselves. It takes more than a bit of getting used to, I think.

I've done that more often than I care to admit, hit the submit button, see the change of screen, not recognize that it is telling me there has been another post and do I want to review mine......instead I go to view new posts or someplace else and never realize my post never actually got submitted.

Yep, same here - usually after I've been overly verbose anyway.

maybe that was because i'm such a new poster

I've had that happen. What happens is that when you hit submit, if another person has posted before you, it will tell you so in a really small text at the top of your message. However, you don't always see it. It means you have to re-submit your message - so sometimes messages don't get submitted.

As for the other site - it's a long, drawn out thing that really came to a head summer before last - so you wouldn't be seeing it recently - or at all, unless you are the site a fgoodly portion of your day.

Thanks local historian, im learning

Are you referring to this post?

I'm finding it confusing why so many people here have been banned from Pinecam

I'm responding to a certain person's accusations that because I post in one name on this site and another name on another local site, I must be just trying to start trouble. I am also a bad person because I don't log into this site daily, according to said operson - as are all the others like me.

So, here it is- Fate_Ravenglass was tied to my store, which, as most of you know, closed May of 2009. I will admit to having been too lazy to change it; it did not seem important, because many who know me under that screen name also know my real name, which I have also not hidden. Many of you have read my articles on Colorado History - my thanks to you- and maybe will do so again in the future, when I find myself able to write again. You'll also get to read about my mother and her project this week in the Times, and will understand why I'm not in the state of mind to write regularly right now - either professionally or on the forums.

So, as the admins and others already knew -I'm now Local_Historian, because I am indeed an historian and I am also pretty much as local as you can get.

There, that appease someone's sense of wrong doing just because people have different screen names in different places? Do you feel better now? Ego soothed? No? Then that's not my problem.

And yes, I probably won't log in for several more days - that's just how life works.

Thank you admins for tolerating my rant.

You are welcome Fate/Local, etc. There has never been a concern about changing one's username on Pinecam, but it is tracked and followed for those few who choose to use that tactic for disruption and taunting of other members on this moderated site.
