Rush Limbaugh Apologizes For His "Slut" Remarks.

04 Mar 2012 06:41 #21 by LadyJazzer
From the Carbonite (online backup company) president:

“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”

Gee, I guess the half-hearted non-apology apology for the "wrong words" wasn't enough to make at least one advertiser come back... I doubt that many of the other advertisers will be coming back either. That seems to be the only thing he understands. Since he says these libelous things about people only to stir up his base and make money, it's pretty obvious who the real prostitute is....

Still trying to keep us barefoot and pregnant. We have to be ever vigilant. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it.

I try not to listen to that guy, but my DH has him on the radio. Guess I better get DH some headphones. So, I heard that crap and when it got a big play in the press and someone tried to defend Rush with some cockamamy interpretation, I was able to shut him up in a hurry.

How can anyone listen nonstop to that guy for 3 hours a day?

If I was DH I'd get a new DW.

The show has gone downhill for years anyway, it was actually funny during Clinton's term. Now it is just a lot of Venom and regurgitation of Drudge pieces. Kind of like the 285 courthouse some days. :) LOL

The rumours of the end of Rush never seem to pass. If he could come back from deafness, he can come back from this. And for all the customers who drop him, there will be many more standing in line to get access to his huge audience.

And what part of private Catholic university is it that escapes your attention? Would you rather have a top notch university that doesn't pay for contraception providing one of the best educational opportunities to anyone regardless of race, creed, religion and gender or have the university shutter its doors because the general government can't keep its nose out of the private decisions made by a private institution based on its religious principles? Georgetown U was started by the first Bishop in the colonies and located where it now stands because of religious persecution of Catholics. One of its most celebrated heads was a former slave. Funny how the more things change the more they stay the same.

You're trying to tell me Georgetown gets no federal dollars?

He's not going away. There will always be knuckle draggers like him to listen to his vitriolic messages.

You miss the big difference. Maher comments on public figures.

Rush was calling a private citizen a slut and prostitute, by name. I wouldn't be surprised if she sues him. What if it were your daughter?

He's also so stupid he:

1) doesn't understand how birth control pills work (you don't take one every time you have sex. It's not like Rush's Viagra)

2) doesn't understand she's not asking taxpayers to pay for them. She's asking that she be allowed to get them from her medical insurance that she pays for through the school.

I think Fluke gave up her private citizen status by appearing before Congress.

What you think is immaterial. It's how the law defines public figure that counts.
