Update - though you won't see it widely reported: Medical records released recently confirm the injuries to Zimmerman, including the broken nose and the autopsy report notes that the only injuries to Martin were damaged knuckles (how did the funeral director miss that?) and the gunshot wound.

What does this tell us, that there were no offensive wounds to Zimmerman's hands and no damage to Martin's body from blows delivered by Zimmerman? What it tells us is that there wasn't a fight or a mutual combat situation as only one person was landing any blows - what it tells us is that one person was administering a beating to the other right before he was shot. No medical records detailing damage to Zimmerman's hands - only Martin's. No medical records detailing injuries resulting from receiving blows on Martin's body, only Zimmerman's.

2nd degree murder? Not a chance. I've got a bright, shiny, freshly minted Roosevelt fiat dime that says Zimmerman emerges from the hearing with the judge with immunity from prosecution on any criminal or civil charges.

Now the FBI is looking into a hate crime against Zimmerman? I wonder if Holder is pushing for this.

But it could be against Martin, beating up a Hispanic man. Black on brown crime.

Chances of that happening are exactly zero - especially since Zimmerman's grandfather, and thus Zimmerman himself, is black. Going to be an awful lot of black youth facing death for civil rights violations if one person who is black killing another person who is black is all of a sudden defined as a hate crime by the federal government.

The medical report stated that the only fresh wounds on Martin was a gunshot from intermediate range and one small abrasion less than a quarter inch below the knuckle on his left finger. Amazing that he could do that much damage to Zimmerman while suffering only one small abrasion. Sounds more likely that Zimmerman tripped and fell.

Hate crimes always sound like double jeopardy to me. If they don't bankrupt and jail Zimmerman the first time, the new hate crime trial should finish off any personal assets the man still has.
