"For us to say you have to take responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase," Obama said in response to persistent questioning, later adding: "Nobody considers that a tax increase."
Remember that promise not to raise taxes on anyone making less than $250K a year? You can bet the populace does and there is no way for the president to proclaim that he has kept that promise now, is there. The individual mandate is a tax - brought to you by the Democratic Party and the President of the United States of America.
Repeal of this law, along with the economy, is what will drive the election this November. Those 22 Senators up for reelection from the Party of Democrats? Oh yeah, they get to try and keep their jobs with their opponents citing the tax increase to pay for ObamaCare that they levied on everyone during one of the worst recessions the union has ever seen. That's going to be of great help to them trying to keep their jobs, isn't it.

The court on Thursday handed Obama a campaign-season victory in rejecting arguments that Congress went too far in requiring most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.
You're not precise in your headline. They struck down the mandate under the Commerce Clause... they defined it as a tax.

Given that Obama stood there and lied about it not being a tax? You bet he can.

Yes he can. Seventy-eight percent of Americans are against the ACA. Now they have been informed by the SCOTUS that the provision is not a mandate, it's a tax. Obama is going to need some good luck campaigning with having that nipping at his butt.
I'm glad the Supreme Court agrees that individuals cannot be forced to purchase an item by the threat of a gun, this ruling is a victory for the limitations that can and should be placed on congressional power to coerce people into purchases through the guise of "interstate commerce".
It doesn't mean I'm happy with it, but call a spade a spade. Congratulations to all of the supports on the first tax on living, at least we can finally (and legally) agree that if someone is breathing, you are taxing them.

That means that the people who have kids under 26, will STILL be able to have them on their policies. That means that people with pre-existing conditions cannot be denied. That means that people who already have insurance and get sick can't be kicked off...
