Or since he was off the prompter, maybe it's the real Obama shining through. It would match up with his writings, his fathers beliefs, and most of his past asssociates.Science Chic wrote:
That's why I wondered if he ad-libbed and seriously screwed up what he was trying to say, or needed to hire a new speech writer (as Nobody That Matters also mentioned). It was a crappy speech.Blazer Bob wrote:

Of course, people who put in more effort will be more rewarded and admired, but that wasn't the point of his speech - it was that they can't do it all alone, we all work together to make something even greater.
That was his point? Is that from high school or junior high? No man is an island. Duh.

IMO Obama blew it big time with this badly worded speech.
In this slow economy the Leader of the US should be saying to small businesses "What can we do to help and how can we get out of the way, and make it easier for you to grow and succeed and create jobs" Not lecturing businesses and trying to guilt them into paying even higher tax rates than 35%.

Obama has no intention of doing anything of the sort. The whole notion of "What can we do to help and how can we get out of the way, and make it easier for you to grow and succeed and create jobs" does not align with Obama's protocall- and if you want to see what I'm talking about- watch the interview that the Obama's did with Charlie Rose just a few days ago.Blazer Bob wrote:

Given his body of work, I think your interpretation is likely correct.

"Red tape and unnecessary regulations are road blocks to economic development," Hickenlooper said. "We need a government that is responsive to our concerns and priorities and spends our tax dollars wisely. That means government needs to know when to regulate and when to get out of the way."
The recommendations were created after a six-month series of "Pits and Peeves" roundtable meetings held in all parts of Colorado.
