its alright- I actually like those kinds of threads, i'm not here in the Courthouse to play paddy cake with these guys. For people to start worry'ing about peoples feelings today is ridiculous..You people have been talking about this election for 2 years now....Its been building and building and building...

Hopefully some of the people mentioned above that have been made fools of will stop posting so much. Hopefully we cleaned the board of some depressing posters here...And hopefully they will realize the futility of posting endlessly about every little meaningless Obama misstep for the next 4 years...Its idiotic, boring and a lot of inteligent people on the corridor wont come near this board due to the absurdity...

I have some comments to add, but I just got back from the Chamber breakfast meeting (where I drummed up business from 2 people for one of my new advertisers! yea!) and I have to head over to my kids school to volunteer for the Book Fair now so this is going to be rushed. Just have fun with the site guys. No one has fun if they are attacked, or continually beaten over the head that what they believe is total crap (when all that's offered is opinion), and it's both sides. Go after party ideals or actions, back it up with data and a reasonable argument. There's no need to get personal, but if that's really what you want to do, we've got the place for that. It's just not in the Courthouse.
PrintSmith, you are transferring. No, I do not think anyone is a bigot. I actually feel that all of the race accusations have been misplaced - it's not racism, it stereotyping. Stereotyping allows you to box people in and not give it a second thought. It's about lumping them into groups, and not searching out their uniqueness, and that's what disappoints me. Not a single one of us can be lumped into a box of standard beliefs, but if you don't give the other person a chance to explain, and you don't listen, then this board will continue to be only a place where people post their outrage of the day only to condemn the other side for their beliefs. It's boring as hell and drives new people away. Get into the meat of discussion, discover why someone believes that abortion is wrong, but it should be available - their reasoning may surprise you, and may provide you with an opportunity to point out a flaw in their thinking, or it might point out one in yours and be a revelation. But unless you try, then nothing improves.
archer, my post was mostly directed at liberals this time because I saw that as having gone off the deep end in terms of the civility around here. Yes, the conservatives have been snarky and nasty too, but not to the same extent since the election was decided. Excuses of how the liberals (or conservatives) were treated in the past is weak-ass justification; you're all capable of better because I've seen it. Feel free to call me biased, the right's done it to me as well before multiple times for when I've gone after them (and if you don't remember, then do a search for Teddy or Nymysys and I going at it - when it gets to a point that I get messages saying people are quitting, I will step in. I don't like to, but I'm not willing to let this site go in the toilet). I find it is a testament that I get accused of that by both sides - it means I'm doing my job by not being partisan. I don't care which side's doing it, I just want it to stop. It's hurting this business.
What's struck me most reading this thread and others is that I feel like this has turned into Israel/Palestine - lots of excuses for crappy behavior - "they did it so I'm going to do it back", which just escalates. I've yet to see a simple apology from anyone. Not an "I'm sorry, but..." with justifications about why they can continue to act like jerks, but a plain old simple "I'm sorry". Okay, and now as I was typing this STDS did offer one, thank you.
Many of us are not anonymous, we know each other, we've had lunch, or dinner, we've volunteered together, we've used their businesses, etc. It's not the anonymity that's the problem, it's that you aren't engaged face-to-face and there's nothing we can do about that short of closing every community forum out there. I realize I have been a part of this problem and I apologize publicly to my neighbors and community for lowering the bar. It IS NOT who I am and I certainly don't intend to be baited by the hate and bitterness that pervades this site on a daily basis.

When you're nic is your real name, that is what you are going to be referred to on here. If someone used a real name when that is not their nic, then I totally agree with you.
And if someone doesn't want to get slammed, then should think for a minute before hitting the Submit button before posting something that could come back on them...

VL, I have nothing to say to you right now. I hope you all work it out among yourselves. I really don't see the issues with Printsmith he seems to have well thought out statements. This was not about principles it was about over doing it with the "you lost so your side and your principles are trash" thing. I am done trying to get people to act decent. I realize there were high emotions and I have no problem being a lightning rod. I did what I believed was right for the conservatives on this board and SC's forum. I do tend to protect people when they get attacked that bad. They just could not talk at all because you guys wouldn't let them. I know you felt attacked too but jesus you won the election. Ease up, was all I said. VL, give me some time I am annoyed and will come back at a later date. I have work to do and I just want to see things calm down.
