Really?

The difference between us is more than political ideology Dog. I may be snarky with you, as an individual, from time to time, and there is indeed one poster here for whom I have lost any and all respect for as a human being who shall remain nameless, but there is not a drop of condemnation to be found in my contributions to this post thus far.

Bigotry is an ugly thing Dog, regardless of the target. If you can't recognize that, I don't know what to tell you. Look at our two sig lines Dog. You tell me which one demonstrates a desire to belittle others for their beliefs and values. You've bought into the Alinsky model whole hog Dog. The end justifies any means. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. And last, but certainly not least, a good tactic is one which your people enjoy. You enjoy ridiculing others Dog, you practically live for it as your behavior here regularly demonstrates.

Something the Dog Said wrote: Really, Printsmith, "you people". You exclude yourself from the incivility of this forum, with your constant broadbrush name calling?

Edited to add: I do not exclude myself from this issue. I understand Sciencechic's frustration, and know that I add frequently to it. However, the point of distinction between this and Pinecam was the unmoderated free flowing discourse which as in the definition of entropy under the laws of thermodynamics, in an isolated system, nature tends from order tends to disorder.

You are either going to have a heavily moderated plain vanilla community bulletin board or a disorderly entropic mess. Your decision. While ScienceChic no doubt desires an orderly pleasant discussion board, that ain't gonna happen without moderation. Since there are in the scheme of things so few posters, we all know our viewpoints and touch points and do not hesitate to hit them. Self moderation would be a great thing, but unless all do it, no one will do it.

You have the audacity to lecture given the hateful posts and threads you have started in the last 48 hours.
By the way.....I answered your question on your watch thread.
I just feel sorry for you.
It must s*uck to be that hateful and angry.

Must just be what you are used to? I think 285bound is pretty mild compared to some national boards I visit. I thought the Lefties here are much more mild than those other places where personal insults rule the day include coom

Soulshiner wrote: Some of the posters getting hammered really brought it on themselves with the tone of their posts over the past 6 months. When you have a minimally moderated board and you let the posters say all of the brutal things they have, then you are going to have the backlash posts as well. We all know that if Romney would have won, the avalanche of brutal posts from those on here who are on the Right would have been nasty and large. Civility has never been the hallmark of the Courtroom on 285. I can't blame LJ for flinging it back for all of the sh** that been said toward and about her. Becky came on here lately and became ruder and ruder and shot off her mouth and now isn't even coming on here to face the music for everything she has said. I wouldn't be interested in making peace with all of the posters who have brutally attacked LJ personally if I were her either.

If the rude and snarky posts were all moved to the Ring in the beginning, maybe the toxic atmosphere could have been tamed. But by letting it all go for so long, we all know that this is what this board is all about, the faceless name calling and taunting of those you disagree with. Personal attacks are the hallmark of this forum. It keeps everyone coming back and keeps the click count up. Now that the election is over, the bitterness of the losing side is really showing and since they believe the collapse of America is near, they have given up being anywhere near civil. I gained some respect for Romney for his concession speech. It would be impressive if his followers on here could follow his attitude of coming together for the country. I won't hold my breath though...

Thanks... :yeahthat:

Tell ya all what, blame it all on me, I got big shoulders and can handle it. The election is over, what is done is done. Now lets see if they can fix the problems or at the least work towards it as a team.

SC.... I completely agree with you.
I am going to take this a step further and please understand that this is not an indictment of you personally.
I have been coming to a conclusion for quite some time that I personally believe sites like this are not good for the community at all.
Pinecam over censors leaving a community with an inability to properly express itself but this website has gone to a complete other extreme. In a nice community....we all have the ability to police ourselves but here......that does not appear to be the case.
Nut cases like VL have a platform to post any outrageous BS he can come up with. It matters little how much hurt is inflicted on the community as a whole......just put it out there.
I realize I have been a part of this problem and I apologize publicly to my neighbors and community for lowering the bar. It IS NOT who I am and I certainly don't intend to be baited by the hate and bitterness that pervades this site on a daily basis.

I agree with the first few sentences of that paragraph. What I disagree with is that you somehow believe that the hateful banter came only from one side.
What we have in this community are two extremes. One over moderated example and one under moderated example. I personally don't believe that either are particularly good for the community or the businesses trying to survive in this community.
I wasn't missing in action for any other reason than I was enjoying the luxury of holding a 5 month old grandchild who I have not seen since his birth. What an @sshole I am. He rates way higher than anything you think I need to answer to here.
Perhaps you perceive LJ's posts differently than we on the right do. Perhaps you see them differently because you share her point of view, hatred and lack of tolerance to anything other than YOUR point of view. There is NO OTHER MORE HATEFUL POSTER THAN LJ on this forum.
Even good people come out swinging after and onslaught of her bile.
You can think what you want of me. You can start as many degrading threads as you want using my name but it is my REAL NAME. I am not hiding behind some BS nic and a computer screen. I WILL put my money where my mouth is.
How about you having the balls to put your real name up here so we can associate the hateful crap with who you really are. Do you have the courage of your convictions to do that.......PROBABLY not.
So....trash my name. Trash my business. Do what you do best here. I have paid a price for my point of view. Some of you have cleverly seen to that.

As far as I can tell with a couple of exceptions....Conservatives have been reactionary here. They have learned to respond in kind to the trash coming at them.

Now it's time to really put my money where my mouth is. I have no desire to associate with the kind of folks who have come to call this their hateful little home. Those that I respect, I enjoy a real relationship with. SC....please feel free to remove me from the membership here as i am not longer comfortable as a member here. Until we find a happy medium....I personally think anonymous members on a "community website" offensive.

May I make a suggestion for a slogan in 4 years........"Take NO responsibility, blame it on anyone else." Bush, printsmith, BearMtnHIB, Becky or anyone that disagrees.
PrintSmith got it right. I need a bumper sticker that just says.......NO Bigots please.
You won......yet that is not enough for you. You have to seek and destroy.
I just feel sorry for ya.

I have taken responsibility for my hateful posts. Are any of you on the left man or woman enough to do the same or are you just gonna keep blaming someone else for your own equally bad behavior?

Now that the election is over, the bitterness of the losing side is really showing and since they believe the collapse of America is near, they have given up being anywhere near civil.

We believe that the USA is going to hell in a hand basket but I suspect if you understood the real reasons why......you would be shocked. Personal responsibility seems to allude many of you on the left. A fiscal cliff is near. What do you want to bet the unemployment rate is about to jump off that same cliff.
I like the USA...if I wanted to live in Europe....I would move there.
We will never agree and the proof will ultimately be in the pudding.
Anyone watching the stock exchange?
Government is doing a fine job on Sandy....don't ya think.
We are in great hands and if that isn't bad enough....I get to come to my "community website" and read threads titled with my name. What a lovely group you are.
