Secession petitions filed in 20 states

Of course, this is mostly a symbolic gesture. The odds of the American government granting any state permission to go its own way are on par with winning the lottery while getting hit by a meteor while seeing Bigfoot while finding gluten-free pizza that tastes like the real thing.

It's impossible for anyone on earth to get hit by a meteor... it couldn't happen in a million years.

I see once again, a small group of people - and the numbers on those petitions are decidedly small - are being petty and have no clue of what they are asking for.

It means no more border patrol, no federal aid at any time, no tax funds, no military support, no ability to move to another state just because you want to, it means an extreme lifestyle change for many people in their state. It means that the drug cartels will be able to do what they want with impunity, because the main policing agencies are federal, not local.

Hell, I think it means the American Indians should sue each state that secedes for their land back - their contracts are still valid, after all, even if they've been violated every which way from sunday.

It's symbolic stupidity.

A meteor? No. A meteorite? It's happened from time to time.

That was my point Einstein... it's a boloid or planetoid in space, a meteor while entering the atmosphere, a meteorite when it his the ground (or a person, animal or structure). I have a rather large collection of meteorites.

Ever notice how that most of the time nobody knows what the hell you are talking about?

For a "world renowned, and published author" you sure have trouble communicating basic thoughts and ideas..

They can form their own, local control is almost always better

No federal taxes taken from the state to be divided up however the feds feel it should be spread around. No need to support a giant federal bureaucracy or two or three or more

Local_Historian wrote: no military support,

The new state could join NATO or provide their own military support.

Yeah that has worked so well rofllol I still say local control is better.

The treaties with the native peoples were made by the federal government. a lawsuit against the states would have no standing.

Just to be clear I am not a secessionist. I believe we need all 57  states.

Pretty sure the cartels are backing Obama, cause if Texas and AZ had their way there would be no returning LIVE smugllers.
