As said, it is mostly a show of disapproval of our government.
Their lack of listening to the people and arguing the party.
With the petitions they are stating they Are patriots and want the government to Work for the people not the other way around.

Nope, a patriot is one who is willing to work towards this country, to die and fight for it, not to leave it. That would be a sign of a traitor to this country.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

In general, it is the offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance.

The idea of, “We just want to go our own way and be left alone,” as applied to the Civil War or any modern day movement to peacefully withdraw from the Union, is most assuredly not treasonous.

Clearly, anyone shouting, “Un-American!” at those seeking a free and independent State might just as well claim that our enthusiasm for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is also un-American.

Excerpts taken from the Constitution, and writer Bill Miller.

And as I earlier stated, advocating force against the United States is treason and punishable by death.

Nor did I state that any petitionist had advocated treason. Read the earlier posts. I was responding to Toad's statements.

Ah, but you did say:
"I believe in being a patriot and not a traitor to this great nation. Too bad others prefer the opposite."

"not to leave it. That would be a sign of a traitor to this country."

Wanting to sucede is not considered a traitor.

In my book, if a citizen of our great country wants to leave it, then they are a traitor. It may be strong statement, but if a citizen does not support our Constitution and our country, does not support those who are fighting for it and dying for it, then they should be considered a traitor. Others may have a differing view, and they are entitled to it, but that is my personal opinion. Certainly they can not consider themselves a patriot for wanting to desert this country.

So what have we learned from this? That being a conservative/Republican trumps being an American. That is just sad.
