Way back when i used to jokingly say "give Texas back to the Mexicans and call it Texaco, after all you can trust your car to the man with the star!"

Ironic that many of Texas's citizens are asking to secede to avoid becoming a part of the People's Republic of Amerika.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

hmmmmm.....all this seems like one giant conservative temper tantrum......your guy lost, get over it. The media in Arizona is having a field day with this, Arizona may be a red state.....but even Jan Brewer finds this whole succession bit more amusing than serious.......she, like many Americans, says she supports the United States of America.......good for her! They did an analysis, tongue-in-cheek, on the news tonight on what it would mean for Arizona if they tried to go it alone.....it wasn't a pretty picture.

The Feds are embedded in every major urban center and have an overwhelming number of Military and law Enforcement personnel and equipment. The States would need to get the jump on the Feds to even have a chance, petitions to secede only bring more attention from the Feds and lead to suppressing those who would rather not be a part of the United States. Got 90 days worth of food stockpiled, more than 200 rounds of a single caliber or gauge of ammo, object to the current administration and its policies? Prepare to wear the label, you are a terrorist and you will be treated as such.

It would be interesting to run some simulations to see how likely it is that those currently aligned with the Federal Gubment would defect and become combatants on behalf of their home states while bringing their Federally provided weapons and tools with them. At the end of the day I still think no state in modern day Amerika will succeed in seceding from what has suddenly become the Peoples Republic of Amerika, the Feds have already eliminated this possibility and will suppress any and every organization that is deemed to be a real threat.

Advocating force against the United States is considered treason and is rightfully punishable by death.

Even if I was one of those people who wanted to seceed, I would never sign the petition and let the feds put me on their list of "unfriendlys".

I beleive our forefathers may have commited treason against their country to form what we now call America. Those that seek sucession are just stating our government has failed and is now becoming a state of tyranny.

The # of states signing the petition has now grown to 23.
Maybe the United republic of the rockies, with Oregon and Washinton might not be to bad.

Many dems are on the petition wagon as well just look at GA and NH so,,,

I seriously doubt that many of those folks truly believe that secession is the way to go - I think they're trying to send a message to DC to get to work on the problems of the country. May be extreme, but thus far nothing else has worked. I doubt this will work - just makes the signers look like post-election sour grapes. While I'm certain there is that sentiment, I think the bigger issue is the general feeling of disenfranchisment in the country at large.

We're probably already all "unfriendlies" based upon our posts in these forums!

I believe our country is and has been great and continues to be the greatest nation. I prefer not to quit on our country and continue to support it's future and it's heritage. I believe in being a patriot and not a traitor to this great nation. Too bad others prefer the opposite.
