Remember that five-year-old gaffe when we mention Bush again.

Over the years on Kodiak island where I'm from, I've heard lots of talk about not being part of the US and how we could easily do without being a part of it (and the state of Alaska for that matter)

That's what happens when you get too many [stupid] angry white-guys in one place... They go on a mission to prove how stupid they are.

If Texas will promise to take Lousiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia...(and maybe Idaho and Montana)...

I say let 'em! We'll get rid of 97% of the wackos in one swell foop....

Just for the heck of it I re-wrote Local Historian's post. putting it in late 1775.

I see once again, a small group of people - and the numbers on those petitions are decidedly small - are being petty and have no clue of what they are asking for.

It means no more protection from France or Spain, no assistance from the King, no more tea, no military support, no ability to return to our home country, it means an extreme lifestyle change for many people in their states. It means that the Indians will be able to do what they want with impunity, because the main policing agencies are The Kings men.

It's symbolic stupidity.

At a minimum I hope the petitions will send a message to DC that they need to get off their dead behinds and do something constructive about the economy (for starters).

Somehow, I believe that the President will give those petitions all the attention that they deserve.

Yeah, listening to opposition was never his strong suit, was it?
