It was not off topic, the effort to ban assault weapons is DIRECTLY linked to the children's 20 deaths in Sandy Hook.....the fact that every damn gun rights conservative in the legislature has vowed to vote against it is very "on topic", be they Republicans or Democrats. The fact that some of these very same people are screaming for something to be done about Bengazi, where 4 people died, just shows the hypocrisy of their position. Sorry that pointing that out made you uncomfortable enough to deem it "off topic".
