'Bored' teenagers gun down college ballplayer, Oklahoma cops say

A college baseball player jogging on the streets of Oklahoma was shot to death by three teenagers, one of whom told police they were “bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody,” authorities said.

The ballplayer, Christopher Lane, was visiting the town of Duncan, where his girlfriend lives, the police chief told The Associated Press. He passed a home where the teens were staying and was gunned down at random, the chief said.

Ford told the AP that prosecutors were expected to file first-degree murder charges Tuesday against the three teens, aged 15, 16 and 17. They were to appear in court, and it was not clear whether they would be charged as adults.

Since he was shot in the back, for no reason, and there was no hint that it was coming, I guess saying that "if he'd had a gun to protect himself it might have ended differently" doesn't work, huh?... I guess a "good guy with a gun" wouldn't have saved the day....

The first week of school and already a school shooting -- involving an AK 47. Is this the new norm? I'm guessing the gun lobby will use this to argue there should be MORE guns at school. I'm not sure what the answer is.

Three kids raised 50% by their parents and 50% by the state.

Total = 100% failure.

No one implied that some hero with a gun would save them or save everyone. This is about bad parenting, not about guns.

Maybe your min wage made it so there were no $4/hour jobs for these kids....if we are going to make this political in stead of parents failing to teach their kids the most basic right and wrong.
