"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Time for the unintended consequences of our shutdown to show up. This little snippet from townhall.com 8/21/20 hits close to home

“At Denver Health and other large hospitals across the metro area, the number of people showing up with cardiac emergencies dropped significantly as the state imposed increasingly strict measures encouraging people to stay at home to slow the virus’ spread,” the article states. This was a verifiable fact. The amount of ambulance usage had gone down immediately after the lockdown orders, and parallel to that, those dying from cardiac problems at home spiked.

In that period the amount of home-based cardiac arrests doubled, and the deaths from heart attacks exceeded those of Covid-19 cases. This concerned just one malady: heart attacks. And this was hardly isolated to Colorado.

This is the study referenced in the above:

Excess Cardiac Arrest in the Community During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In case you glossed over the report on cardiac emergencies during the lock down. Here is another "unintended consequence" from powerlineblog.com 8/22/20

POSTED ON AUGUST 22, 2020 BY JOHN HINDERAKER IN CORONAVIRUS
WHITHER CORONAVIRUS?
In today’s London Times, there is an interesting COVID article titled Cancer care backlog may cost 30,000 lives, Boris Johnson told. The principal theme of the article is that Britain’s health care shutdown on account of the COVID epidemic (or hysteria triggered by the epidemic) will cost many lives:

One senior oncologist has claimed that in a worst-case scenario the effects of the pandemic could result in 30,000 excess cancer deaths over the next decade."

Not as dramatic as cardiac emergencies but more lethal in the long run.

Add suicide increases, drug OD's , and every other deadly ailment not treated due to short sighted lockdowns.

I am seeing 25% percent more opiate OD's compared to last year. Yet the DNC didn't address this problem raging through our nation for over a decade.

Cancer treatment delays are another big concern. Hopefully the US is doing better on that than the UK.

Spain finally reopened and saw a huge jump in infected.(WSJ) Over ten people died, crushed after an illegal disco was raided there. This time it is mainly young people getting infected. Tired of no social life, they are breaking the rules. Have to imagine that is going to happen in the US too on the campuses that are having classes in person like CU.

Impact of HCQ on mortality among 8075 patients with COVID-19 was assessed

The economic downsides of lockdowns?
In NY State, the lockdowns have caused unemployment to rise 0.5%. Florida? Unemployment is declining because their economy is opening up. And despite an open economy, there are still many fewer deaths there than NY.
