Maybe his position evolved? President Obama campaigned in his 1st term against Same Sex marriage. He later made it legal.

Do we really want Supreme Court Justices that never change their minds on issues?

NO, his position was/is ALWAYS...it was NOT settled law. WHY do u think he was selected, because his vote would aid the "the cause"...reversal of R V W.. He has ALWAYS stated the query OF QUESTIONING "SETTLED LAW".in this matter.

Settled law really isn't. What the 1st Amendment covers is always changing. Same with the rest of the Bill of Rights. Does separation of church and state allow you to use Peyote in religious ceremonies even if it is banned by the federal government? Yes. Also allowed Catholics to drink wine during Prohibition.

The abortion debates have been front and center at confirmation hearings, but senators snapped to focus as Republican Donald Trump nominated three conservative justices during his presidential term, potentially tipping the nine-member court away from centrists and liberals.

Suddenly what had been long debates over the legal precedents set by the landmark cases Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey became very real-life questions for American women as Republicans reached for the long-sought goal of rolling back abortion access.

Kavanaugh repeatedly told the senators under grilling from Democrats and Republicans that the women’s right to an abortion has been affirmed.

“The Supreme Court has recognized the right to an abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Wade case — has affirmed it many times,” he told Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

To Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Kavanaugh stressed “the importance of the precedent” under the previous court rulings and a “woman has a constitutional right to obtain an abortion before viability,” referring to the 24 weeks of pregnancy now in question under the Mississippi law, which would lower the threshold to 15 weeks.

He won over Collins, who is not on the panel, after his assurances during a two-hour meeting.

Yet during this week’s court hearing Kavanaugh read from a long list of court cases that have upturned past precedents and questioned why the court couldn’t now do the same with abortion.

“If you think about some of the most important cases, the most consequential cases in this court’s history, there’s a string of them where the cases overruled precedent,” he said.

Kavanaugh said during the court hearing that the abortion debate is “hard” and perhaps the court should throw it to the states to decide — essentially

www.thedailybeast.com/abortion-pill-laws...ugh-tears-case-apart

The latest case, sparked by a lawsuit from an anti-abortion group emboldened in the wake of Roe v. Wade’s overturning, sought to upend a decades-long FDA approval for mifepristone, a pill used in over half of all U.S. abortions.

After a rogue, far-right federal judge in west Texas ruled in the group’s favor last year, the issue found its way in the Supreme Court. The court ruled unanimously against the challenge on Thursday.

“We recognize that many citizens, including the plaintiff doctors here, have sincere concerns about and objections to others using mifepristone and obtaining abortions,” Kavanaugh wrote. “But citizens and doctors do not have standing to sue simply because others are allowed to engage in certain activities—at least without the plaintiffs demonstrating how they would be injured by the government’s alleged under-regulation of others.”

Multiple abortion-rights groups celebrated the decision Thursday, but also maintained that the case had “no business” making it as far as the Supreme Court in the first place.

CREDIT WHEN IT IS DUE....K did a "solid".HOWEVER the TEXAS TRASH fed.judge just showed his ignorance of the law and HIS BIASED BULLSHIT......throw the judge a "jaw breaker" punch, what an ass.

Some anti-abortion folk tried to ban an abortion pill. By a unanimous verdict, 9-0, the Supreme Court told them to pound sand.

Yes, even Alito and Thomas.

So don't believe the Democrat doomsayers who tell you abortion and birth control will be banned at the federal level if President Trump wins again. He actually supports a 20 week abortion rule.
And there is no way the Republicans will get a 2/3 majority in the House and Senate to ban abortion.

“This case brought on by Donald Trump’s allies was only one tactic in a broader relentless strategy to strip away access to reproductive freedom everywhere in this country,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez told reporters on a press call shortly after the ruling. “If Trump regains power in November, Trump’s allies will be ready to deploy their plans to ban abortion access nationwide without the help of Congress or the court.”
