Hey deltamrey - check this out! Here's hoping they can get it going in real-time this year...deltamrey wrote: SC----excellent post.......NOW, there are a number of automated systems now available to detect early a fire......bet few are used here.....no conspiracy but the firefighters thrive on the fires.....they have resisted new tech for decades with little reason.....Satellites can read a soup can and with IR sensors pick up body heat in a back yard.....simple stuff.....but I bet not inbtegrated into a detect/evaluation IT system here in CO.....maybe I am wrong. The firefighting establishment is mired in archaic approaches......I root for the recall Evergreen seeing a few engineers are making a run on the current people....
The voting booth is the solution across the board.
Airborne imaging technology developed at NASA and transferred to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service (USFS) in 2012 is being tested to prepare for this year's wildfire season in the western United States.
The Autonomous Modular Sensor (AMS) is a scanning spectrometer designed to help detect hot-spots, active fires, and smoldering and post-fire conditions. Scientists at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., and USFS engineers installed it on a Cessna Citation aircraft that belongs to the Forest Service. The USFS plans to use it in operational fire imaging and measurement.

Even worse are the reactions of the uninformed in these comments: http://neighbors.denverpost.com/viewtop ... t=22877776
I can't tell you how hurtful and painful it is to victims when they read this.. and yes, they do read this.
Read those responses and just shook my head. Typical flatland mentality.
We are all a bunch of idiots for choosing a quiet, serene place with good neighbors to live in.. How dare us be so stupid. (place sarcasm emoticon here)
I think it is time to show those superior flatlanders what we are made of up here in idiotland.
Do any of you guys need work parties to clear land, plant grass or trees, or start the reconstruction process cause if you do.....our family is happy to come help. Now....we aren't real bright cause we live in this forest with you but we can sure work hard to make sure we take care of our own. Maybe just a transport of a good BBQ pit to cook you folks a nice dinner. You name it. We are there.

Read more: www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news...ution-from-the-stateDENVER - Lower North Fork wildfire victims are seeking restitution nearly two years later. The State Claims Board heard claims from five different Lower North Fork Fire cases, including [Kristen] Moeller and [Dave] Cottrell.
Moeller said the state offered a settlement that was below what they asked for, "Doesn't cover all of our losses, but it's enough for us to move on."
They accepted the settlement, but Moeller, Cottrell and other Lower North Fork fire claimants will have to wait for legislative approval and funding before they can receive payment.
There are still unresolved claims from other victims of the Lower North Fork wildfire that have not been settled.
"I think it's important that people know we're not done yet," said Moeller.

The victims of the Waldo Fire received FEMA support, and are getting special subsidized 1.9% loans...the victims of the LNFF - nothing but stalling, bureaucracy, and hopes that they will wear out and go away.
