It's starting to snow more heavily along the 285 corridor. Roads have been reported as just wet so far (to Bailey), but it is sticking elsewhere and will become more slippery as it builds up to slush and snow.

From Breanne Evans 2 mins in 285 Traveler Morrison, Conifer, Pine, Bailey areas group:
Just drove from Conifer to Shawnee. Visibility is almost zero and roads are snow-covered and slick. Stay off the roads if you can! Also, just saw 2 emergency vehicles with sirens headed north on 285.
285 southbound about 2 miles from Richmond Hill area is backed up bumper-to-bumper.
Now there is a truck stuck in the middle of the road spinning its tires.
There has been white out conditions going south bound to 285 up to Richmond Hill. There is also several cars here and they’re stuck at various locations going up to 285 south.
Because of I-70 being closed today, traffic over CO 9 into Alma and Fairplay is much heavier than usual. Hearing reports from travelers that there are cars blown off Hwy 285 and big backups due to snow and high winds, but Hwy 285 is still open.

Roads from pine junction to 470 are in good shape- some snow pack- CDOT out in force- speeds in the 40s - Denver roads are wet with some isolated snowpack-

73 into Evergreen is snow and ice packed. It was just me and 1 plow in front of me going about 25/30. Wasn't too bad. 74 around the lake is slush and thick. 74 is snowpacked and not too bad minus the invincible ones who are 55+ and thinks it is bandimere speedway!
Be safe out there.

Just made the run from Shawnee to Conifer. Roads were dry with some icy spots from Shawnee to Conifer. Crow hill to Pine junction were fine, a little snow pack. From Pine Junction to Conifer roads progressively became more snow packed but the plow drivers are doing an amazing job. Gonna try and make it down the hill.
Go slow and if you think you need to go fast think about our CSP Corporal killed by a speeding idiot yesterday and dont do it.
With Memorial Day comes the arrival of weekend traffic and people heading to the mountains to go camping. Backups started before 2pm heading southbound on Hwy 285 at the Richmond Hill merge (MM 233) and are currently stacked back to Foxton Road (~MM 235).

We were busy this morning on 285. It would be nice if people wouldn’t keep us this busy. Seems like 15 to 20 over is the norm. We shall see what this afternoon brings.
We are focusing all dangerous driving behaviors today, not just speed. Just stating excessive speed seemed to be prevalent this morning.
