No MB, I am specifically ageeing with CG and the examples she cited. Many of the Republicans I know. (which encompasses the majority fo my family, friends and aquaintances) receive thses emails and forward them to one anothef deriving much amusement from them. When I call them on it they are hostile and defensive. Much the attitude I see here. it's expected that like doctors Republicans will always cover up their comrades mistakes. i don't follow that code, not anymore. The only way our party can be saved is if we renounce firmly this kind of behavior and reject it every time it raises it's ugly head. Denying it exists just allows it to flourish until it devours the right as a cancer.
Okay, one last story from me about a girl not a group. My daughter had an African american roommate.
My kids love watermelon. I brought some over to my daughter and offered some to her roommate. She was embarrassed about eating in front of me. And when I pressed her she said it was because when she was a kid she was teased about watermelon and other ethinic foods. One girl not a group. I guess that is not reality. I have not lived in a world where I was tormented but I lived with a African american family in my teens. My kids preschool/daycare teacher was African American. They told me stories.
It just seems like my holocaust thing brought up some outrage but the other didn't. Is there acceptable forms of this and unacceptable forms?
So, when you hang stead fast to using that depiction. Go ahead.
To try and turn this on me and say I am racist because I saw that and inferred something is a deflection tactic. The emails came with racial text.
I guess I am the one. I am racist. I am not saying anyone here is racist but I don't feel comfortable with the ape reference. I don't feel comfortable getting emails like that. And I was trying to show you how it feels with my holocaust explanation. It all is mean sometimes.
But, I want to say again that does not mean I think all republicans are racist. That is not fair at all.

'according to this article'. But, I'm disagreeing with the article's premise.
If I say Obama is no better than a trained monkey put out in front of the organ grider that's currently running the democratic party, I don't mean that in a racial context. I mean it in the same way as if I said he's a marionette, a parrot, a ventriloquist's dummy...
It's not racial, so not ALL comparisons between Obama and monkeys are racist simply because some white guy a long time ago that I never met held a barbaric belief.
I don't hold that belief.
That's what makes the article invalid, unless someone's going to claim that I'm the exception that proves the rule.

Nobody, I just don't understand why, with the history of this country you can't just use something else. There are some that are going to use this racially. Unless you are really part of it, why even risk the confusion. Use a dunce cap like they used on Bush or better yet, get something new.
Clinton/womanizer
Bush/Idiot
Obama/...... what is his thing
Unless you refuse to go there you are going to look bad whether you mean it or not. That is all I am saying.

I find it sad that we're not going to make any more headway against racism as long as many people's first response is to scream racism.
BTW, Obama/empty figurehead, or drunken sailor - take your pick.
