GOP poll: Tea party movement could cost Republicans in 2012

I find this fascinating.... All in the same thread, Nmy has managed to:

I extend an invitation to you to attend our next meeting and find out what you want to know.

One of you Liberals comes and takes those notes so that you folks can have ammunition to complain about the Tea Party.

Are you calling SC a liar?

From the meeting minutes of the June 16 Tea Party Meeting (among other things):

What does the 285 Corridor Tea Party expect to accomplish?
• Expand influence with Republican Party

What does it stand for?
• Serve as conscience of Republican Party

And he still won't answer... It's a 'yes' or 'no' question. Got something to hide?

For the record, I don't go to political party meetings.

Funny how if you lift the rock and shine a light, they all scramble back into the dark and hide... They must have something to hide in their meetings....

Just white sheets and hoods. BOO.

LJ, the wrinkled prune of 285 bound, why not ask SC if she is absolutely sure of whether it was said either "of" or "for." And was it said by a visitor from either Park County Republicans or an actual 285 Tea Party member?

The silent majority will be silent no more.

Really. Is that what I'm doing? It wasn't so long ago that you were not only thanking me, but jokingly appointing me Secretary: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=...rty+meeting&start=10 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8266&hilit=tea+party+meeting&start=10<!-- l -->

Nmysys wrote: SC:

Thank you for the notes, you have just been appointed Group Secretary!!!!

We are an informal group therefore we have never had to keep minutes of our meetings. In fact, most of our meetings have been strictly speakers like Tom Tancredo, Bob Beauprez, etc. and notes for the purpose you speak of have never seemed necessary. Now that we are open to public scrutiny, you have been chosen. See what you get?

I especially liked the quote in this thread: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=...rty+meeting&start=20 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8803&hilit=tea+party+meeting&start=20<!-- l -->

Nmysys wrote: Now we know why we need SC to provide accurate notes.

Now we come to this:

HEARTLESS wrote: However, they weren't transcribed from a recording, so were the words "for the Republican Party" or "of"?

You sat 10 feet from me and watched as I typed what people said into my laptop as the meeting went on - no interpretation, just typing what people actually said as they said it (notice that there is not one sentence of my opinion posted in those minutes). I posted the minutes and stated at the end to feel free to add to what I missed or correct me if I was wrong, and not a single person spoke up. Yes, I heard both "of" and "for" used, and by both 285Bound people and Park Co people, I chose one (and I also heard the word "conscience" used more than once too). Explain to me please what the difference is between the two words, because to me either implies that the Tea Party wishes to be a part of the Republican Party, not its own separate entity, and that was absolutely the main point of the conversation that night as it was also repeated multiple times that a big goal is to get Tea Party people involved in the Republican caucuses and influence which candidates are chosen ("we help pick them, not get told who we have to vote for"), so archer's point that she'd respect the Tea Party more if they'd form their own separate group was made from valid information - your own (as evidenced by the Tea party vs the GOP article you cited as well).

Nmysys wrote: Everyone is welcome even SC who has taken it upon herself to interpret what she wants, how she wants, and to post it on OUR forum.

I posted the meeting minutes in the 285 Tea Party forum because:
1.) that was the only place that the meeting was announced so it made sense to post about what happened there and,
2.) I was told that I was approved to post in the private Tea Party forum because I met the requirement that the Tea Party set for it: I attended at least one meeting.

Now you're saying that I took it upon myself to post in there, as if I'm trespassing, and that I have a nefarious agenda when before you've "nominated" me to take them, and praised my work? :dontget: Yes, I did take it upon myself to post what occurred in your meetings, because I was trying to help you out (because I started attending these meetings before I owned 285Bound). I took 3 hours of my time away from my family for each meeting, had to hire a babysitter for one evening even, so that I could help you get your message out; because, you don't effect change unless you tell people what you believe and why your viewpoint is important and that what you hope to accomplish will make a difference. I've even linked to the Tea Party message in other, non-related threads because the information was pertinent and it would direct more people to your forum...and now all of a sudden I'm just out to get you?

From that same thread: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" 285bound.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=...rty+meeting&start=30 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8266&hilit=tea+party+meeting&start=30<!-- l -->

Nmysys wrote: Over the 7 months that the 285 Tea Party Group has been in existence, we have constantly posted that all are welcome. If you have the impression that you are not welcome, maybe you should look at yourself and the attacks that you have made against those who are in the Tea Party Group. We are just normal people, whether you want to admit it or not, that are concerned about the direction that we see our country heading in. If you agree with that direction, then you are probably not one of us. If you are actually underneath, concerned and interested in the same things that the people who attend are, then you are welcome. Simply put, we don't judge the people who attend. We don't ask their screen name on this forum or any other forum.

Who's attacking whom in this whole thread Nmysys? Yes, you absolutely do judge who attends, now don't you. I've never said anything but that I'm open to differing viewpoints, I attend and I listen respectfully, I post what I heard and ask for help adding what I missed or got wrong, and have thanked those who have, I've repeatedly said I'd like to try to help you succeed and be a model to other political groups for having their own forums on 285Bound, yet you basically bite the hand that's only tried to help you. Seems pretty short-sighted to me. But, I will no longer attend the meetings if you think that I only have an ulterior motive of hurting the Tea Party and wish you good luck on your journey.

This is why the tea party's continued high profile in the Republican party is chasing the moderates out. The hostile, uncompromising, close minded, my way or the highway, insult slinging that we've seen here so often. You keep saying all are welcome while making it clear that only those who subscribe to your brand of group-think are.

Yes, the teaparty is driving Republicans out of the party. No question about that.
