GOP poll: Tea party movement could cost Republicans in 2012

24 Jun 2011 06:55 #61 by The Dude
I dont believe i judged the group at all. What I said was " The fact that THIS INSANE GUY is your loudest supporter I am sure turns many people off to the whole group" I was sharing my view of Nmysys not the Tea Party group. I believe after reading all of his posts that he does more harm than good for the group. My point was to show that people not affiliated with the group might not want to venture to one of the meetings due to the idiotic, attack posts from nymysys. I mean he does seem to be the loudest supporter of the group. right?

I wouldn't judge people only by what they say on a message board. Writing is too difficult to explain everything you are thinking. And plenty of times mistakes are made and people backtrack.

And I think VL would be a hoot to hang out with and drink a beer with, I am just 180 degrees away from his politics, no problem. I don't know Nym or LJ, but I would still meet and talk to them too.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

Insane is not a valid assessment. We all get passionate sometimes.

But once again, you cannot judge a whole group by one person. Everyone gets upset and says things they don't mean sometimes. I have every confidence that Nym will come on and let us know what he meant by what he said.

If the guy only lost his cool in one or two posts I would have to agree with you... However the guy cant answer a simple question on most of his posts without attacking someone if he can even answer the question at all. If yoiu go through all his post (which I have not, I can only comment on the ones I have read) I am sure you will find more times than not that he has attacked rather than had a calm logical discusion on the topic at hand. Passionate is one thing but hostility and even violent rhetoric towards those that disagree with you or prove you to be wrong is not a good quality to use when trying to promote a group that claims to want what is best for this country. Again it is not just this thread that I am talking about.

SC, my apologies if it seemed my question of or for was in any way an accusation of you. I didn't remember which was used. Since you said both, I accept that. They do however carry different meaning which is why I asked. The generalized ranting of one Left wing batsh.. Jerk, seem more like a written hemorrhoid always bringing out the best in others. Again, I'm sorry if it came out as an accusation SC.

I would love to see someone from the tea party please answer the question and, yes or no, not be attacked for it. I understand what you are saying but the tea party has been attacked here as well. Just to be fair.

The only jazz musician who is stubborn, opinionated, gun-totin' and liberal that I know is me... (Well, that's not really true...I know MANY...but they aren't on 285Bound....) And I'm not the spokesperson for anyone but me.

If you choose to let a loose-canon insane guy continue to speak for a group, sounds to me like it's not too much of a stretch to assume the rest are just like him, since they never do or say anything to indicate they're in disagreement with his tactics or what he says. If the shoe fits......

I'm not a tea party member. I'm a party of one. I'm sick of the whole damn lot of 'em.

That said, I don't think the tea party is letting anyone be their spokesman. He's the loudest right now, and obviously gets people's attention, but it's just one nut - and it's pretty obvious to me that no group in theri right mind would want that as any sort of official mouthpiece.

I was using you as an example when I posted about the musician. You say you're not a spokesperson for anyone but yourself, but I use you to judge all liberals. After all, you're one of the loudest on here and I've never seen another liberal tell you to pipe down because you're not staying within the 'liberal lines'. Therefore, they must like what you're saying, so you speak for them.

You can't have it both ways. Either you're a spokesperson, or Nym is not.

This is not that complicated. Nym is a troll, like VL. Absurd reactions and personal attacks get the embers stirred into flames, and Gosh! will ya lookie here at this thread? It worked again!

I agree that the tea party has been attacked here just as every other political party has been. It is not his attacks on other political parties that I THINK turn people off to the the group. It is the personal attacks and lack of compromise when he has been proven to be wrong or misinformed.
