GOP poll: Tea party movement could cost Republicans in 2012

Is this really all about whether the tea party is part of the republican party? Why doesn't someone just answer the question? If you answer I will believe you. To try an pin this on SC is ridiculous. If her notes are incorrect why not just let her know and correct them?

I don't think anyone here would believe that SC deliberately went to the tea party meeting to "take those notes so that you folks can have ammunition to complain about the Tea Party." No offense but that is ludicrous. From what I have heard the people at the meetings were extremely gracious to SC.

Here is what I think. The original idea of the tea party was the rant on CNBC.

It was during a the crisis and it was hysterical. The tea party was all about that rant until about 50 groups tried to take it over. Racists, republicans, etc. Originally it was just some people that wanted to make a statement. I have defended the tea party several times against the lump eveyrone has put them in. There are some very good people that just had a message and all these groups came in to say they were the tea party. And they are not.

So, just answer the question tea partiers and there is no reason not to believe you or to accuse people of infiltrating your meetings.

I don't remember if it was here....or on that other web site, but several people, who are liberals, asked if they would be welcome at a Tea Party meeting, and they were assured that the meeting were open to everyone and all points of view were welcome. From this thread it sure doesn't sound like a liberal would be welcome at all.

It's been made VERY clear that not only are liberals not welcome, but any Republicans who don't swallow the group-think, bat-sh*t-crazy, right-wing dogma aren't welcome either. That's why I'm still waiting for an answer to the questions... Either the notes from the meeting-minutes are true, or SC is being called a liar... But if anything has come from this it is that the only ones who are really welcome are the ones who all drink the same Kool-Aid.

They may be "sincere", but they're not selling anything I'm interested in buying...And they could use some lessons in "selling."

My apologies if I created this misunderstanding; other than Nmysys, absolutely everyone I've met at the Tea Party meetings has welcomed me with open arms, and expressed gratitude at my efforts and attendance as you can see from the thread in which I posted the first meeting minutes.

The people that I've met there do genuinely care about this country, and believe that they have the answers to fix it. They are trying to participate in our democracy as diligent citizens, and many apathetic Americans would learn well from their example. But there are also members who refuse to consider other points of view, and actually do not wish to advertise their message or even convince others whom they perceive as unconvincable (whether they are or aren't). They fear being misunderstood, or their points picked out and unfairly criticized: but I say that this is not the right way to approach this. If you have a belief, you must be willing to share it, and defend it, with logic, reason, and passion. If you don't convince others to agree and actively support you, your movement will die.

As with any group, they mirror the general population as a whole - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Please don't hold the actions of one against the group as a whole.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

No need to apologize. Some on the left have a vested interest in slandering the tea party. The History of false allegations proves it.

Gee, we're still waiting for confirmation if what was said is false or true, but we can't get the coward to answer the question:

From the meeting minutes of the June 16 Tea Party Meeting (among other things):

What does the 285 Corridor Tea Party expect to accomplish?
• Expand influence with Republican Party

What does it stand for?
• Serve as conscience of Republican Party

Doesn't sound like slander to me, if that was what was in the meeting minutes...

You all better watch yourselves... Pretty soon Nmysys is going to come out playing the victim!! That or explain to us that he has health problems and it is not his fault he posts such nonsense. I think the 285 Tea Party would stand a greater chance of sucess if they would stop letting nmysys act as your spokesman. If I were a member of the group I would want someone with integrity, and the abilty to calmly debate those with opposing views. Instead you have this hot headed copy and paste outrage of the day idiot as your poster child. The fact this insane guy is your loudest supporter I am sure turns many people off to the whole group.

So, based off of the personality of a single poster, you're judging a group? This could get fun.

All jazz musicians are stubborn, opinionated, gun totin, liberal women. I know cuz I saw a post by one.

All conservatives could be mistaken for Thor if you give 'em a sledgehammer.

Anyone else wanna play?

Almost like VL and LJ being the spokespersons for the Left! :)

Who are the spokespersons for the average joes?

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

I would say if the group is allowing an insane guy to be their spokesperson, and allows him to be the image of their group, it reflects on the rest of the group.

The only jazz musician who is stubborn, opinionated, gun-totin' and liberal that I know is me... (Well, that's not really true...I know MANY...but they aren't on 285Bound....) And I'm not the spokesperson for anyone but me.

If you choose to let a loose-canon insane guy continue to speak for a group, sounds to me like it's not too much of a stretch to assume the rest are just like him, since they never do or say anything to indicate they're in disagreement with his tactics or what he says. If the shoe fits......
