However, just to keep everyone informed - we (TSAC) are working with 285Bound to come on over and join the party! Y'all will be required to play nice on the forum threads, however. Moderation will be minimal, and hopefully not needed at all.
GOOD cookie advice, CG - will keep that in mind for when Marine Boy is out of basic.
OK - I have a box full of these microwave cakes - you mix them in the container they come in, bake them in that, they have frosting mix and sprinkles and a candle - all inclusive, just add water (and a microwave.).
Assorted cake and frosting flavors - actually pretty good.
However, they have odd assorted labels on them - circle ones - maybe someone can make new labels for the top, something from 285 Bound? If so, you can have them.
I also know where to get more if we want more. I may even still have an account with them.

The drama and ugliness - I won't comment on. It speaks for itself.

Our men and women overseas need our support. I remember my field-duty days; I'd have given my right arm for a chocolate chip cookie or something besides stale water to drink. That's what we do - make their lives a bit more tolerable by sending comfort items. Have you heard how nasty the water over there tastes? They need hydration, but many will forego it because of the nasty water. A little packet of Crystal Light (or something similar) can really make their day. They don't care if you love or hate Pinecam, they're just thirsty. Let's keep politics outta the way, deal?
So, pitch in, come help us pack and see what we're all about. We'll have a booth at Emily's Parade this weekend, come on by and introduce yourself. And have a cookie while you're there. But don't be surprised if I attempt to recruit you as a TSAC member - we need all the help we can get.
Edited to add ('cuz I couldn't help mahself): Yup, alot of the folks over there probably would enjoy some good beer & porn - however, those items cannot be shipped and are forbidden by the local government over there, and well - it'd just be kinda weird if we packed porn.
I need to clear something up here. I reached out to TSAC when the idea was brought up for 285Bound to adopt navycpo's son's troop. It was my hope that by partnering with TSAC that we all would be better able to provide for the troops by combining TSAC's established collection sites, resources, and already-established procedures with 285Bound members' community support and activism.
We are still working out the logistics of how this combined effort will work, with the expectation that we would create a forum for them in which they could post collection events, bake-a-thons, packing parties, etc. This forum will be just like all of our other business partner forums on 285Bound, no more, and no less. We are not, and will never, change our method of moderating to accommodate anyone else's wishes as we believe that our method of moderating works the best.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
I believe Sharon said it best above. She said, "This forum will be just like all of our other business partner forums on 285Bound, no more, and no less." (don't you have to play nice on business partner forums?)
I better shut up now, before I put my foot in my mouth or something. I'm not a moderator - on any forum - so I'm just speculating, anyway.
Actually....we only to play nice if we want to ANYWHERE here.
I still haven't heard the explanation of what required in the context you used it means.
If we have a legitimate problem with a business, we DO have a right to post that in the appropriate business thread. A business has the right to respond to a legit problem.
Did I misunderstand what could or could not be posted in the threads here on 285bound?
Let me ask it a little more directly......
Will TSAC have the authority or ability either by the management here or by their own hand to delete or move posts from the public eye that are unflattering to TSAC?
I am still waiting for a straight answer on what required actually means.
