You're the one speculating about violence to other students with no basis in fact. You need the "jump to conclusions" mat more than anyone else.

Yes, Zimmerman's case for "stand your ground" is falling apart.

I'm hoping a manslaughter charge will come from this and they'll let a jury sort it out. A Grand Jury would be too secretive.

Five days sounds extreme for tardiness too in my experience too, that is why I thought it might be violence.
But due to zero-tolerance policies, I now realize violence would more likely result in a expulsion. I know one kid who was thrown out of UNC for lying about being involved in a violent incident in his high school.

Grand jury first most likely, and then being tried. I wonder if Zimmerman will be put in custody.

The LA Times is reporting the suspension was due to Trayvon being caught with an empty bag of marijuana. Zero tolerance drug policy at the school.
Maybe he was just cleaning up someone's dropped litter?

Family spokesman Ryan Julison said the family has always maintained that Trayvon’s suspension had nothing to do with anything violent.

“The fact of the matter is that an empty baggie does not change what occurred,” he said. “The reason he was suspended does not change the fact that if George Zimmerman had stayed in his car, none of this would have happened.”

Bad source for your tardiness? And looks like I was right, that a 5 day suspension seemed extreme for tardiness.

At my school, it usually meant you had a in-school suspension for repeated tardiness and cleaning erasers for a one time offense.

Back to Zimmerman, if you saw a suspicious person walking around your neighborhood that you didn't recognize, would you follow him after calling 911 or just go home and let your neighbors be possible victims?

Personally I wouldn't follow him, but I am risk averse and wouldn't join a neighborhood watch in the first place. Screw the neighbors.

Yeah, Time Magazine. You know they have a record of unreliable reporting.

Yeah, Time Magazine. You know they have a record of unreliable reporting.

They are a bad source is you want objective reporting. And they do tend to have out of date info in the print edition.

Pray tell, what do you consider GOOD sources of "objective reporting"?

Nobody really, I think you have to sift and balance out different sources.

I watch Fox, listen to NPR, read a couple weekly newsmagazines and the Post.

I like the Economist the best, they tend to give you in-depth coverage, but they have their own cultural slants too.

The Week is pretty good too, since they cut and paste articles and opinions from all over the world. Good to hear from sources outside the US, especially interesting when they are making observations about America. Their favorite format, is put up the headline and then you will have five differing opinions about the same story. Often the opposing views will be counter opinions to each other.
