Show me a recent thread in the Courthouse that's worth having an adult discussion. Then we'll debate the merits of your claim.

IMO, the Courthouse has turned into nothing more than a slightly toned down version of the Ring - all insult, little if any substance.

Thanks to 285Bound and Bob for providing an alternative where the children don't play, and discussion can be carried on.

Actually.....I think the ring is sometimes a little kinder.

And I 2nd JF's appreciation to the site for expanding it's horizons and meeting the needs of it's customers.
Great job.

Ditto, I give credit to SC, Bob, etc. for trying something new and expanding the forums, and taking all the criticism.

I don't really get all the whining and complaining, I just post in any and all forums where I see interesting threads.

There really are a few decent ones in the CH if you wade thru the noise.

I'm not talking about the tone of the Courthouse, I'm talking about the subject matter. The most worthless posts IN MY OPINION, are the ones that are political jabs made by someone with the same ideology as the poster. It's usually "look what this party or person did and what a bunch of scumbags". Often followed by a few of these :rofllol :rofllol

Maybe it's just me but that seems pretty lame and repetitive.

Agreed, the political scandals and partisan jabs are boring/repetitive after awhile. I skip most of those, but some people apparently get off on those topics.

Say something nice thread! :)

I agree there are some decent topics, but they are usually dwarfed by the daily "I hate you people" trash. And I don't see anyone who's been complaining about recent changes here doing anything to change that fact.

I could go on, but I'd rather hear some more of what your favorite/most appreciated discussions have been. Topics are only as good as you make them, even if they start off with a crappy post you can always ponder the bigger picture, bring up an unique view for others to consider, etc rather than just do the usual "they do it too", "your side sucks", "why aren't you calling out bad posts", etc etc. What we talk about here is going to mostly be what's in the news and impacting us right now, this isn't a deep intellectual, ponder-the-meaning-of-life board (man are those depressing after 5 minutes!), but threads can be improved by the quality if the content that you all post. Some of my favorite topics I didn't put in here are favorites just because they are fun, off-topic (usually rag on VL, like his Dear Pinecam thread, that was hilarious!) subjects that meandered from the OP and went completely unexpected paths and showed me something new about a poster that I didn't know before - that's the underlying mission of this board: to connect us all in an unconnected, disjointed world. Honestly, I think as homeagain said, we need to get back to having regular get-togethers because while you can somewhat connect online, it becomes more real once you meet someone and talk to them in person. We are not all stereotypes, easily boxed and dismissed; rather, each unique individuals with similar hopes, dreams, and probably traumas as well. We all have living in this area in common, we all face the same issues, we all handle them differently and can learn from, and support one another.

I agree with and like everything you said. But some will never agree and will continue to taint much of the good that can come from this forum. I think it's good that this topic has brought about change, even though others think the old way is the only way.
