Authoritarian behavior is wrong, I don't care who's administration it's under, right, left or otherwise. These tactics of the IRS (started under our current administration in 2010) is Nazi like behavior. Here are some of the questions asked of conservative non-profit groups.

And the ACLU has weighed in on this...

The revelation didn’t sit much better with groups on the left. “Even the appearance of playing partisan politics with the tax code is about as constitutionally troubling as it gets,” said Michael Macleod-Ball, chief of staff of the ACLU’s Washington legislative office.

Brush this whole thing off with your cavalier "Life is Sweet" remark. You may want to ponder what kind of information the government is collecting about you?

You mean the IRS actions started in 2010 under the direction of Republican IRS Commissioner Shulman?

Who was Shulman "working" for in 2010?

Obama? The hands off manager? He admitted today he didn't know about the IRS issue until the news reported it on Friday.

Believe him? If so, he is totally clueless.

The IRS. His office was created to be independent from the office of the Presidency due to abuses by previous Republican administrations.

He was appointed by former Republican Pres. Bush, with confirmation by the Senate in 2008. He could not be removed from office by Pres. Obama, and is considered to be independent from the administration per legislation created to prevent the abuses that had occurred under former Republican President Nixon. His six year term expired in November, and his position has not yet been filled due to the filibustering actions of Senate Republicans.

The IRS is created to be independent from the administration due to abuses by previous Republican administrations. It would be an abuse if the President was aware of inappropriate actions by IRS.

New spin? The IRS story was leaked by Clintonistas to divert attention from Benghazi.

Here's some excerpts from the IRS Inspector General's report...

Around March 1, 2010 - The Determinations Unit Group Manager asked a specialist to search for other Tea Party or similar organizations’ applications in order to determine the scope of the issue. The specialist continued to complete searches for additional cases until the precursor to the BOLO listing was issued in May 2010.

April 1-2, 2010 - The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager agreed.

July 2010 - Determinations Unit management requested its specialists to be on the lookout for Tea Party applications.

I don't care if Schulman was put into his position by Teddy Roosevelt. This all happened under Obama's watch. And if you are claiming this is some sort of covert ops by the GOP.... I think you need a new supply of tin foil.

Now a Democrat is interested in getting to the bottom of this...

Sen. Max Baucus says the Senate Finance Committee will investigate the IRS targeting conservative political groups, joining a growing list of congressional panels looking into the matter.

The Finance Committee would be the first in the Democratic-controlled Senate to announce an investigation. The Montana Democrat is the panel’s chairman. …

“These actions by the IRS are an outrageous abuse of power and a breach of the public’s trust,” Baucus said. “Targeting groups based on their political views is not only inappropriate but it is intolerable.”

Baucus said the agency should conduct its job “without passion or prejudice.”

“We need to get to the bottom of what happened here,” Baucus said. “I want to see all the facts. We need to know who knew what, and exactly what mistakes were made.”
