I don't HAVE to stfu... So, stuff it up your nose and deal with it.
Since you capitalized it ("ONE"), I guess "ONE" attempt is a big deal for you? Afterall, you mentioned ONE attempt on Rep Giffords today on your list which otherwise included killings (hopefully it's just going to be an attempt, and she survives).
OK, I can add two two more attempts of wacko left-wingers (since you brought up right-wingers) who made attempts to kill a president. Both happened after three of your examples on your list (JFK, RFK, MLK). And again, for the third time, what proof do you have that Oswald, Sirhan, or today's shooter were right-wingers?
My additions, since you asked for more attempts and included one yourself, consist of Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme who tried to kill the otherwise harmless Gerald Ford because she wanted to save the redwoods. And she was shortly followed by Sarah Jane Moore who missed hitting Ford with a shot by six inches. She later stated that she was "blinded by her radical views".
We don't know if this guy is a right wing nut or a left wing nut...perhaps just nutz. What is important to take away from this, and the sheriff said it better than I can....if we foster a climate of hate and anger, then we shouldn't be surprised when someone takes that hate and anger and acts on it. This has happened over and over again, and I do see more of it coming from the right than I do from the left.....at least in using violent words for political gain. The anger whipped up against abortion doctors resulting in people targeting them, and killing them.....also intimidating and injuring women on their way into planned parenthood clinics. Palin's now famous line about don't retreat, reload, she had this particular congresswoman "in the crosshairs" and it was one ugly campaign down here......all this rhetoric involving violence will have an effect. It's time politicians, and religious leaders, and talking heads started thinking about the consequences of their rhetoric.....sure they fire up their base, but they also play to the weirdos out there that take their words seriously, then commit a crime of violence because of it.
Republican conservative President Reagan was shot by John Hinkley to impress liberal lesbian Jodie Foster. Obviously he was insane; thus, his plead.
Oswald was a Communist who shot JFK.
Sirhan Sirhan (from Wiki) ...A possible motive cited for his actions is the Middle East conflict.[11] After his arrest, Sirhan said, "I can explain it. I did it for my country."[11] According to Mel Ayton, Sirhan believed he was deliberately betrayed by Kennedy's support for Israel in the June 1967 Six-Day War,[18] which had begun exactly one year to the day before the assassination. During a search of Sirhan's apartment after his arrest, a spiral-bound notebook was found containing a diary entry which demonstrated that his anger had gradually fixated on Robert Kennedy, who had promised to send 50 fighter jets to Israel if he were elected president. Sirhan's journal entry of May 18, 1968, read: "My determination to eliminate R.F.K. is becoming the more and more [sic] of an unshakable obsession...Kennedy must die before June 5th".[7][11] They found other notebooks and diary entries which contained his growing rage at Zionists, particularly at Kennedy; his journals also contained many nonsensical scribbles, which were thought to be his version of "free writing".
I find LJ using this incident to blame conservatives and T-Party is just repulsive. LJ you should be ashamed of yourself trying to turn a tradjedy into some sort of doup d'état against the ideals of conservatives. LJ, good luck with that losing strategy.

Fox News reported earlier that this nutjob had copies of Mein Kamf and the Communist Manifesto at his home.

so maybe a left/right wing nut? Whatever...he appears to be a very disturbed young man, at least that is what seems to be coming from all the interviews I have seen so far with those people who knew him, though no one appears to have known him very well.
added note, this has really hit this town, and state hard. Rep. Giffords was well respected and well liked here.....her family is very prominent in the area, and her astronaut husband is a favorite son. Even our governor, who is not known as an emotional person, was very upset when she spoke to the state. We can only hope and pray she pulls through this, she was a very special person and passionate about her service to her community.

I'm going with disturbed. Shooting 19 people and killing a 9 year old girl at near point blank range pretty much proves that.

I actually like her and her politics even though I didn't necessarily agree with her on some issues. I see her as a true Democrat instead of the Marxian Socialist Democrat who run the White House and the Democrat Party.
