Our children’s recreation is one of the most important investments we will make in their future – and ours. A healthy work force produces a better-paid work force and adds wealth to our communities.
Did you know that a fit citizen lowers health care costs by lowering heart disease, decrease depression, relieves stress, and reduces crime.
That’s why we have to ensure that Conifer continues to provide an excellent recreation and parks to every child in our community.
This May, vote yes on the ballot. The district means more recreation options to enhance physical and mental health for our kids, better recreation access for all, and an expansion of fitness programs. The rec and park district will fund improvements in district as well as improved facilities, safety and energy efficiency.
The district can be approved by voters with no tax increase for the homeowner.
Conifer provide a great value for the price. Our kids are growing. But we can’t afford to slow down now. If we don’t pass the district, Conifer residents will be forced to drive to other communities for rec programs or fat kids will increase.
Support our district, keep our property values strong and invest in our local economy – vote YES
The above was a rewrite from a union provided letter to parents and teachers to support the Jeffco school bonds in 2008...
Our children’s education is one of the most important investments we will make in their future – and ours. A better-educated work force produces a better-paid work force and adds wealth to our communities.
Did you know that a high school diploma increases average lifetime earnings by $200,000? A college degree increases lifetime earnings by an additional $600,000, according to a 2002 study.
That’s why we have to ensure that Jeffco Public Schools continue to provide an excellent education to every student in our community.
This November, look for 3A/3B on the ballot. The $350 million bond package and $32 million mill levy override for Jeffco Public Schools means more academic options to enhance career skills and technical training, funding for increased graduation requirements, and an expansion of math and science in high school. The bond package will fund improvements in just about every school in the district as well as improved technology, safety and energy efficiency.
The $350 million bond package (3B) can be approved by voters with no tax increase for the homeowner. As for the mill levy override, homeowners would pay just $2.92 a month for every $100,000 of their home’s market value.
Jeffco Public Schools provide a great value for the price. Our kids are learning – student performance is strong. But we can’t afford to slow down now. If we don’t pass the mill levy override, Jeffco Public Schools will be forced to cut up to 500 teachers by 2013 and class sizes will increase.

So we're now - to borrow from those who use these terms all the time - a socialist state, in which I'm totally responsible for you and yours and you're totally responsible for me and mine? To the point I'm supposed to pay for a rec district so YOU and YOUR kids can be healthy? Isn't that passing the buck? You want your kids healthy, make it happen. I'm not holding your responsible for my health nor the health of my family. Not even the health of my dogs.
Stop trying to insist WE should pay for YOU.
Our property value is already strong. I'm not here to boost yours.

They're sure doing everything they can to ensure that the vote is rigged as much as possible. Says a lot about their motivations and directions, don't it...?
LadyJazzer wrote: UPDATE: I just sent in this second, (but unnecessary) form, Certified Mail/Return-Receipt-Requested. We'll see how long it takes them to respond...(And whether or not they come up with some additional, unnecessary stalling tactic to keep from sending an actual ballot in time for the election.)
FURTHER UPDATE: I mailed in the "Application for Mail-In Ballot" request on 3/12/11... I received the Certified/Return Receipt (postmarked 3/15/11) on 3/19/11... But still have NOT received the actual ballot. Since it obviously didn't take that long for the return-receipt to be received, I find it interesting that the ballot itself has still NOT been sent.
So, I just sent the following email...(and I sent the email with "electronic Delivery Receipt" and "electronic Read Receipt"...so it will verify when they received the email, and when they open and read the email):

I recently sent in the “Application for Mail-In Voter Ballot” on March 12, 2011, via Certified/Return Receipt Requested mail. The postmark on the return receipt is dated “March 15, 2011”, and was received on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Since the required form was mailed in, and I know it has been received, and the return receipt has already had time to be returned to me, I’m wondering when I may expect the actual ballot that is required for me to be able to vote in this election?
Thanks,"
I attached PDF files of the completed "Application for Mail-In Ballot", and the front/back of the Certified/Return-Receipt... I will continue to document this stalling tactic every step of the way, and if they drag it out all the way to the deadline for the election, I will file a lawsuit.
Updated to add: I just received this back:
