Can you question patriotism?

Perhaps there is a history that concerns this person with which you are unaware boy. Your ignorance of that history may be what deprives you of the understanding as to its importance to the person. A reasoned and mature individual would begin by asking the person why it has been chosen rather than to begin by attacking the person for its inclusion. If, after being in possession of the knowledge of why, you still deem it worthy of comment, then it might be considered that you had done so from a vantage of knowledge rather than ignorance. Since that knowledge is not in your possession, however, the only charitable manner in which your actions can be viewed in that, unsurprisingly, they emanate from ignorance yet again.

Tell me something, because it is obvious that the point of this thread is lost on you. When you want to express an opinion on something you have a passion for (you name it). Do you start in to your opinion with, "Well I served in the military, so don't you dare question me or my point of view or my patriotism" or do you state your case based on the merits of the subject you are discussing. Because something tells me with you it is the latter.

I really don't care what you(generic) have or haven't done in service of your country if you are going to behave like an ass and do something that is to the detriment of a single individual or the entire nation. Military service is not a "Get out of Jail Free" card.

And if you served and retired I say you earned it. That is totally different to serving a single enlistment contract and then using that as a key to the gate to lucrative govt. civilian jobs. Those jobs are on the taxpayer tit as are the retirement benefits. And people who do those jobs have no clue how the real world works. They are insulated. And therefore I have a problem with people who have never spent a day worrying about their pay check bouncing due to the efforts of millions of taxpayers who don't have that guarantee, spouting off on things that will inhibit businesses and people from being able to make a living. I have no time for the "I've got mine so FU" attitude displayed by some.

I am simply pointing out that a military uniform doth not a patriot make. I hope this clears this up for you.

No the point isn't lost on me...but the way you go about expressing your opinion tends to cause me to have tunnel vision and to shoot first and ask questions later...

Had you merely voiced your displeasure with those people that play the "I was military, I'm better than you...vote for me 'cuz I'm a patriot" card instead of inferring that they (and you didn't generalize the "they", so that also means me) are and have been sucking off of the taxpayer's tit...I probably wouldn't have pulled out my firearm and shot first.

Okay this should be a great exercise. Go back to my original posting. I don't care if it is a word or a letter or a sentence that you want to use, but go back and show the rest of us the part that supports your statement. Seriously.

This will demonstrate how a lib mind looks at something and sees what it wants to see not what is there. How it looks to be offended where there is nothing.

And all I can say is if you do have a tendency to shoot first you are going to be sharing a bunk with bubba sooner or later.

You've become a special project for me boy. No need to thank me now, the larger community has done more than enough already in that regard for being willing to take on your special needs and help you leave your ignorant and adolescent ways behind you and one day join the fellowship of adults, replete with the accompanying manners that are so vital to being a good citizen.

Now laddy, we need to have a conversation about your choice of language. It clearly illustrates your current adolescent state and proneness to childish fits of temper. One of the most important traits an adult obtains is the ability to control their emotions rather than allowing their emotions to control them. Use of profanity also exposes vacuous vocabulary and skill in the richness of the spoken and written word. A wise man once remarked that a diplomat was someone who could tell you to go to Hades in such a manner as to have you looking forward to the trip. We clearly have a lot of work to do in this regard, and I would suggest that you obtain a book on synonyms to assist you on the expansion of your current vocabulary. Your spelling could use a little work too, as your posts in other threads clearly points out. A book of synonyms will help you in both areas as it will both serve to expand your current vocabulary and also inform you of the proper spelling of the words that find their way into your repertoire.

Don't worry laddy, I've the patience of a saint with special needs individuals. I consider my efforts as nothing more than providing a service to my community. I'm happy to do it, really I am.

We all know you were the kid with a bone around his neck, but we ain't the neighborhood dogs. So you're SOL here biatch. Go over to lj's house and ask if you can watch how to be a man or a wannabe man or whatever it is they think they are. I am sure they will indulge you, eggspurt.

I agree with you on this one. I also believe that the military is not for everyone. Patriots are not define IMO by the fact that they served in the military. I believe it is defined by ones actions and the impact on the actions military or not.

Maybe bubba's bunk is where I want to be. So the insult doesn't work with me...neither did "Your Mama wears combat boots".

That's the spirit lad. I'm glad you chose to share your experience with the rest of us. Shameful that those bullies taunted you with such names and told you the only way to get a dog to like you was for you to put a bone around your neck, but that experience is behind you now, though it does go a long way in explaining why your emotional development was abruptly halted at such a young age. I'll help you get past it lad. One day the memory of that event won't cause you as much pain as it does today, I promise. Time heals all wounds laddy, but continuing to hold it inside of you will only continue to poison your mind and make you hostile, so I encourage you to share more of those bad experiences with us. Knowing that you went through such horrible ordeals, it's no wonder you turned out as you have. I'm all the more determined to help you now lad, you can count on me to help you put all that pain behind you.
