Sequestration?

Obama, the weak president, now he is asking the Secret Service to restore White House tours, especially, for the children. What a joke! You think LBJ would be blaming the end of tours on the Secret Service? No, he would be fixing it. something Barack just doesn't understand, he is much more about campaigning for the 2014 election over fixing the nation's current ills. "Does this make the GOP look bad? Good, then let's do it!"

The same Breitbart and DailyCaller that said Chuck Hagel was taking money to speak at the non-existent "Friends of Hamas" group?

Got it...

Jobless claims drop 10,000 to 332,000
Applications for unemployment benefits near five-year low

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The number of people who applied last week for new unemployment benefits fell to the second lowest level in five years, perhaps reflecting an uptick in the steadily improving U.S. labor market.

Initial jobless claims fell by 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 332,000 in the week ended March 9, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected claims to rise to 350,000 from a revised 342,000 in the prior week.

Companies that contract with the federal government, particularly defense firms, may have to furlough or lay off workers in response to lower government spending. Most economists think the effect of the spending cuts is likely to be small, however.

I would say that the President and his Congress may have found a partial solution to our economic woes. Sequestration. Go figure!

Furloughs seem to be mainly deals where the people still have jobs, but take every Friday off and lose 20% of their take home. So making them quasi part time workers.

All furloughs are not equal....

But hey, they're just FAMILIES.... If they have problems paying the mortgage, buying groceries, paying the car-loans, keeping their kids in school... They're probably part of the 47% that "are victims, and refuse to take responsibility for themselves"... They probably shouldn't have bought homes (unless they could pay cash for them)...I mean, you never know when your job might get shaky. And it's their own fault for make assumptions about the future, right? I mean, when you've teabaggers running around with "fantasy-budgets" trying to cut everything "for your own good", it must feel great....

Cable News Obsessively Covers Cuts To White House Tours, Virtually Ignores Cuts To Programs For The Poor
By Aviva Shen and Adam Peck on Mar 14, 2013

ThinkProgress examined this trend on three major cable news networks — Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC — since March 6. White House tours were mentioned 33 times as often (Fox News had 163 segments, CNN had 59, and MSNBC had 42) as mentions of other sequester impacts hitting the poor. Any discussion of sequestration’s steep cuts to housing assistance, food stamps, and Head Start early education was virtually nonexistent on all 3 networks in the same time frame. Fox News mentioned Head Start three times, ignoring housing and food stamps entirely; MSNBC mentioned Head Start 4 times, food stamps once, and did not cover housing assistance cuts at all. CNN stayed completely silent on all three issues

But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

So why did Obama sign off on this? Did he not read it and understand how ruinous it would be? Did he honestly think the Republicans would cave this time when they haven't in the past? :smackshead: Or did he think he could increase America's suffering to win Congress back for Pelosi?

So why did the Republicans sign off on this?... They knew what they were doing. They WANTED IT.

Oh, sorry.... "They did it too: ____"

But Republicans want to cut goverment, well, they say that, even if it keeps increasing in size.
