I'm a little surprised the is no discussion about the MO protests/violence/looting. I've been wondering what actions would stop the need for so many cops and National Guard on the streets there... other than a quick public hanging of the cop. Again I'm hearing the race baiters drumming up the outrage in order to elevate their own relevance. This is the first shooting of this kind in that city and the agitators are talking like white cops are stalking young black men as if they were big game. Where are the protests in Chicago where young black men are dropping like flies?
So if you had the power, what would you do to end the protests that give cover for the violence and looting? I'm not saying these people protesting peacefully are wrong, but I also don't think the looting and violence would be a problem if the protestors were satisfied to let the system work and go home. How would they be satisfied at this point?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

What would MSNBC do to fill that airtime, more repeats of "Lockup"?

Form a perimeter around the protest. If it fails to remain peaceful, then drive all of those present into a confined area, detain them and transport them out of the area to be arraigned. When the instigators keep disappearing, the rest of those present will get the hint very quickly. If you are peaceful you can remain, if you fail to be peaceful it will be a couple weeks, maybe a month, before anyone sees your sorry backside in the area again.

I think that approach would work and IMHO it is what should have happened in the first place. All of the violence and looting is just making the situation worse and punishing the business owners instead of the criminals. Now the Feds are involved and Eric Holder and the FBI are in the mix along with the Missouri National Guard and the local police just making it more difficult to tell who's in charge. Then there's the flip-flopping policy on curfews; once the Governor has established a curfew and involved the National Guard that should have been the solution. Hold your peaceable assemblies during the daytime and stay inside when the curfew is in effect, perhaps use that time to contact your elected officials and convey your outrage to them via phone calls, faxes, e-mails, and snail mail. Having a day to day policy on how to handle protestors that are violent and committing crimes isn't deterring the miscreants from looting and pillaging.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Are you serious? Sure it would work. Disappearing citizens worked for Germany, N. Korea, China, ...
Damned straight I'm serious. Remove the agitator's ability to agitate and they'll be less agitation in the days that follow. There is no protection of the right to riot, only a protection for the right to peaceably assemble. The folks can march and chant silly slogans to their heart's content, but when they start tossing bottles or breaking windows to steal the property of others, their violation of the rights held by others requires their removal from the area to give them time to become rational once again.
On a separate note, I was appalled at the statement issued by the governor of MO yesterday. HIs statement made note of the need for justice for the family of the deceased and called for a vigorous prosecution of the cop. That sounds a lot like there has been a predetermined outcome for how he wants this resolved, doesn't it? The call should have been one for a "vigorous" and thorough investigation and a need to ensure that there is a fair and just application of the law, especially given the animus and bias of Obama and the man he dispatched into the area who is supposed to be arriving today.
