Who do you want in the Oval Office in 2017?

It would seem that anyone would be embarrassed to vote for a candidate of the historically racist party, Democrat.
Slavery, Jim Crowe laws, KKK, Gov. Lester Garfield Maddox, Sr, Governor George Wallace, Ku Klux Klan Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd, President Woodrow Wilson, Eugene ‘Bull’ Connor, J. William Fulbright, President Lyndon B. Johnson, James F. Byrnes, Hugo Black, President Andrew Johnson, Vice-President John C. Calhoun, Chief Justice Roger Taney, Sen. Stephen A. Douglas, Sen. Richard B. Russell Jr, Herman E. Talmadge, Sen. Sam Ervin, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan, Sen. James Vardaman, Josephus Daniels. (my fingers are tired of typing)

If you want the quotes of these gentlemen concerning minorities, I will be happy to post them all.

You're kind of conveniently ignoring more recent history, aren't you there Arlen? I'm pretty sure today's Democrats more closely identify with those who pushed the Civil Rights movement, Roe vs Wade, and Title IX than their ancestors' Southern Democrats.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The Democrats just found a way to get and keep black voters by making sure they are dependent forever. What would happen to the black vote if blacks were climbing out of poverty at a mass scale and became upper middle class to 'rich', as defined by Democrats. What use would blacks have for the party that has made decades of promises yet have delivered nothing but taxpayer funded poverty? And if you look at who started Planned Parenthood, it's pretty obvious what she wanted for the black population.

At some point the black community needs a real group of leaders (unlike Obama) who actually understand the underlying disadvantages blacks have in finding the American dream... MLK's message has been lost by many years of race baiters and Democrats who, like Clinton, preach dependency instead of self reliance and capitalism which is responsible for everyone else's success. What Democrats seem to want is to make everything 'fair' by pushing for a more socialist society where we can all universally be where blacks have been living for far too long.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

Doesn't seem that the Civil Right's movement has moved forward lately, nor the plight of the African Americans in this Country. They seem to think that having a Black president, and both houses of congress did not cause those democrats to be at fault in failing them---always blaming the republicans--those people who have the small businesses and hire people.

Nothing like conservatives 'whitesplaining' to the 'black community' that democrats have done them wrong.

FYI , Don' t forget that today is National Dog Day ( as if everyday is not).

Are black people better off? Do they have equal educational chances? You must look at who pulls the strings. It hasn't been the Republicans! Even when Bush was in he had to deal with Democratic congress that got their way to the point that the housing bubble broke wide open.

Look where BLM finds the worst examples of police shootings? Democrat controlled cities like Chicago and Baltimore which haven't elected a Republican mayor in decades. Even look locally at the Denver Sheriff's Department, constant lawsuits paid out for abuse and deaths of prisoners in their care. Who was the last Republican mayor of Denver? Maybe BLM should stop whining about Trump and start going after the mayors and city councils who preside over their neighborhoods?

Or would you rather blame Republicans for that? :???

The housing bubble broke wide open due to the greed of the investment bank industry, appraisers, mortgage brokers, et al. creating a high risk fraudulent based security market, not the Democratic congress. I recommend the book "The Big Short" or even the movie for a laymen explanation of how the housing bubble was created and broke, who profited and who lost.

Are black people better off? Perhaps you should ask that of "black people", rather than posters of an almost entirely white based conservative isolated mountain community forum. Many "black people" are better off due to the enactment of the Civil Rights Act and ensuing legislation concerning equal opportunities for all in housing, education, employment, public commerce. Many have had their educational opportunities greatly expanded due to these and other legislation. Many are still suffering from discrimination and lack of opportunities. The question before you is, if you are concerned with the lack of equality in economic and educational opportunities for those lacking in those opportunities, is who is more likely to provide those opportunities, Ms. Clinton or Mr. Trump. Based on their past records regarding minorities, clearly Trump has little or no regard for improving opportunities for minorities. He has a clear past record as a landlord of selectively denying housing to blacks solely based on their skin color, he has made claims that blacks are all impoverished, live in dangerous neighborhoods, have unemployment rates over 50%, etc. etc.

Thanks, Mtn. Legend - you beat me to it. It is fascinating to see Trump and the alt-Right twisting in the wind trying to find some new conspiracy theory to sell. Fortunately, most people are not falling for it, whether it be their warping of minority economics, an upside down reading of crime statistics or the creation of the Clinton health myth. What's next? Is Clinton really an alien bent on taking over the U.S.?

Give us a break.

BLM has gone after Democrats as well as Republicans, including Bernie, Hillary and Donald. They have gone after the politicians in Baltimore, Chicago, and many other cities where there are disproportionate number of police shootings of black individuals.

I blame the lack of accountability of many police departments and lack of appropriate training. I blame the establishment politicians who are afraid to challenge their police departments and hold them accountable. I blame the DA's who refuse to indict those in the police departments that abuse their powers. I place the blame across the board regardless of political party.

When was the last time that a Denver DA found a police officer culpable for abusing their position?
