Are you saying he's going to get impeached by the Senate or is he just going to lose the election? This thread is all about impeachment so I'm assuming the first.homeagain wrote:

You either know of new evidence that's impeachable or you are just hoping again... which is it? When you are proven wrong, again, will you say you were wrong or will there be some hidden evidence conspiracy that you'll fall back on?homeagain wrote:

chrisd3711 wrote: The bottom line for me is that Trump is a gangster who has risen to become the Godfather of his loyal followers. It is no wonder that he relates so transparently to the Putins and Erdogans of the world - strongmen who are much more interested in their own self-interests / power than they are the well being of anyone else, especially those who are not affiliated with their gang. Trump can do no wrong in the eyes of those who continue to support him, in spite of the everyday lies and distortions that then become his and their truths, regardless of what the absolute Truth is. I continue to have faith in the institutions of the United States government, institutions that have been under attack by Trump since his first days in office. For him, these institutions are a threat. And why do you suppose that is? Because they get in his way as he seeks like a spoiled child to get HIS way.
If things do not change that much in the next few weeks or months, it would appear that articles of impeachment will be sent to the Senate, where Republicans are likely to push aside legitimate reasons to show him the door. If that is the way it all pans out, at least there will be an invaluable record for future historians to dig into so that perhaps, at least in this case, history will not repeat itself.

David Holmes told lawmakers in a closed-door impeachment inquiry Friday that US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland had told Trump the Ukrainian President would do "anything you ask him to" and that Sondland had confirmed the Ukrainians were going to "do the investigation," one day after Trump has asked Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, according to a copy of Holmes' opening statement obtained by CNN.
Holmes' statement confirmed the testimony from Bill Taylor, the top US diplomat in Ukraine, who revealed the July 26 phone call with lawmakers at his public testimony Wednesday, saying Holmes had informed Taylor about it after he first appeared on Capitol Hill behind closed doors last month. Holmes' testimony places Trump closer to the push for Ukraine to open an investigation into his political rival, and raises additional questions about the testimony of Sondland, who is scheduled to testify publicly next week.
"Sondland told Trump that Zelensky 'loves your a**,' " Holmes said, according to a copy of his opening statement. "I then heard President Trump ask, 'So, he's gonna do the investigation?' Ambassador Sondland replied that 'he's gonna do it,' adding that President Zelensky will do 'anything you ask him to.'"
Holmes also confirmed Taylor's testimony about the President's thoughts on Ukraine, saying he had asked Sondland "if it was true that the President did not 'give a s--- about Ukraine."
Holmes said Sondland had responded that Trump cares only about "big stuff." When Holmes said that the Ukraine war was big, Sondland responded, " 'Big stuff' that benefits the President, like the Biden investigation that Mr. Giuliani was pushing," Holmes said.

Who is testifying?
Tuesday, first panel at 9 a.m. ETTuesday, second panel at 2:30 p.m. ET
- Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine specialist on the National Security Council. Vindman listened to the July 25 telephone conversation in the White House Situation Room and reported his concerns about the president's mention of political investigations to the top NSC attorney, John Eisenberg.
- Jennifer Williams, a foreign service aide detailed to Vice President Pence's office who listened in on the July 25 call between Trump and Zelenskiy.
- Kurt Volker, the former special envoy to Ukraine, who along with Sondland and Energy Secretary Rick Perry was part of the "three amigos" tasked by the president to handle Ukraine policy. He was on the list of witnesses requested to appear by Republican members of the Intelligence Committee.
- Tim Morrison, the former National Security Council aide who heard the July 25 call but in closed-door testimony told the committees conducting the impeachment inquiry that he didn't view the president's actions as illegal or inappropriate. Republicans say his testimony supports the president's position that there was nothing improper about the July 25 call, and they included him on a list of witnesses they asked the Intelligence Committee chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., to call.
Wednesday, first panel at 9 a.m. ET
- Gordon Sondland. Once a top donor to the president's inaugural committee, Sondland has faced intense scrutiny about his closed-door testimony after he sent the committee a three-page amendment reversing his initial account. In that addendum, Sondland said he personally told a top aide to Zelenskiy that the release of U.S. aid to Ukraine was linked to investigations.
Wednesday, second panel at 2:30 p.m. ET
- Laura Cooper, a deputy assistant secretary at the Defense Department, who in closed-door testimony said that Ukrainians raised the administration's delay of $391 million in security assistance in August.
- David Hale, the undersecretary of state for political affairs at the State Department. He testified behind closed doors on Nov. 6, and Republicans asked for him to appear in the public hearings.
Thursday, one panel only at 9 a.m. ET
- Fiona Hill, formerly the top Russia specialist on the National Security Council, testified last month that she registered concerns about the parallel foreign policy channel that Giuliani was using to impact policy in Ukraine.
- David Holmes, a State Department aide who overheard a phone conversation between Sondland and the president on July 26.
