Divine Instructions

Today's Scripture

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household. Hebrews 11:7, NKJV

In Genesis 6, God told Noah there was going to be a great flood that would cover the whole earth, and that he was to build a huge ark to save his family. God spoke to him about things not yet seen—there had never been a flood before nor had there been rain. It didn’t make any sense, and over the 120 years of building it, Noah must have had hundreds of excuses to stop. But when he heard the divine instruction, he acted on it. With the word from God came the power, the strength, the confidence to accomplish what seemed impossible.

God will put things in your spirit that seem illogical, beyond your capability, too good to be true. He’s going to open doors of influence and favor greater than what’s happened in the past. Don’t talk yourself out of it. You have to push past the doubt, push past the fear, push past the “can’t do it” thoughts. With that dream comes the power to obey. You don’t have to figure it all out. All you have to do is believe.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You have a blueprint for my life and that I need not fear the unknown or what seems too much for me. Thank You for calling me to follow You and Your direction in my life. I ask You to make clear the next step that I should take, and I will take it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

From Trouble to Double

Today's Scripture

“Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.” Zechariah 9:12, NKJV

We all face difficulties and things that are not fair—someone walks out of a relationship, you have a financial setback, a dishonest coworker makes you look bad and gets the promotion you deserve. But God sees everything you go through. He doesn’t keep you from all the trouble, but when trouble comes, instead of being upset, today’s Scripture says that just qualified you for double what you had before—twice the joy, twice the resources, twice the influence. God never brings you out the same. He makes the enemy pay for bringing the difficulty.

When you understand this principle of hope, you won’t live bitter when people do you wrong; you won’t give up on your dreams because something unfair happens. You know that it’s setting you up for something greater. The coworker who thought he was hurting you didn’t realize he just qualified you for double. Without that financial setback, you wouldn’t see the blessing and favor that you’re going to see. Yes, it’s painful when a friend betrays you, but instead of living discouraged, you know it will open the door to other great relationships.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that when trouble comes, I am a prisoner of hope, I’m locked into hope. Thank You that You’ve promised to restore back double for anything that trouble takes. I believe that You are my stronghold and that You bring me through difficulties and into something greater. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Get the Real You Back

Today's Scripture

“…for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10, NKJV

Life has a way of changing us. At one time we were outgoing, excited about our dreams, grateful for our family, positive and hopeful. Then life happens. We go through a disappointment and lose a little joy and confidence. We make mistakes and lose a little sense of value. People do us wrong and we lose a little passion. Eventually, we look in the mirror and think, “I’ve lost myself. I don’t even recognize who I am.”

You may feel like you’ve lost yourself, but the good news is, you can find yourself. You can go back to who God made you to be. The real you is still there—the joyful you, the passionate you, the confident you, the caring you. One reason Jesus came was to recover what was lost or stolen, to heal what was broken, to give you beauty for ashes, joy for mourning. What you’ve lost is coming back. God is about to do a new thing. He’s going to breathe on you with new life, new passion, and new vision. Stir your faith up. Start believing and hoping again.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that in Your heart is a constant purpose to seek and save people like me. Thank You that You see what I’ve lost and You have the power to restore what has been broken. I believe that You are breathing on me with new life and bringing back the real me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

In the Middle of a Miracle

Today's Scripture

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. James 1:3, NLT

When we think of miracles, we think of when God suddenly turns things around. Jesus touched the blind man, and his eyes were opened. Moses held up his staff, and the Red Sea parted. But not all miracles are instantaneous. Sometimes we’re praying and believing, but our health isn’t improving or our dream isn’t coming to pass. You may think, “God, why aren’t You doing something?” You don’t realize that God is sustaining you, pushing back forces of darkness, keeping you from getting discouraged and giving up. You’re in the middle of a miracle, but you can’t always see it. It’s the miracle of endurance. One day you’ll look back and think, “How did I make it through that season when I didn’t think I had the strength to go on?” God didn’t deliver you from it, but He gave you the grace to go through it. Without His hand of protection, favor, and blessing, you wouldn’t be where you are. We love instantaneous miracles, but it’s no less of a miracle when God takes you through what should have taken you out.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that no matter what the circumstances are around me, I can be still and know that You are God right at this moment. Thank You that if I am in the middle right now, You will bring me through to my miracle. I declare that I am going to triumph in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

You Are Blessed

Today's Scripture

All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock. Deuteronomy 28:2–4, NIV

When you gave your life to Christ, He put something on you that causes you to stand out, to overcome obstacles, to accomplish dreams. It’s a divine enablement, a can-do power, a favor that propels you forward. It’s simply called “the blessing.” With this blessing, you’ll go up when others are going down, you’ll recover from an illness when the medical report says you won’t, you’ll accomplish goals that are over your head. Your talent, skill, and determination take you so far, but to reach the fullness of your destiny, God puts the blessing on you.

Today’s Scripture is saying that the blessing is not dependent on your circumstances, whether they’re good or bad. Your family is blessed. Your business is blessed. “There’s a blessing on everything you put your hand to.” It’s not dependent on where you are. Whether you’re in abundance or a famine, you are blessed. Whether you’re around loved ones or people who aren’t for you, you are blessed. You don’t have to go somewhere else to have the blessing; the blessing is on you. Wherever you are, the blessing is there.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for Your promise that as I honor You and keep You first place, blessings are headed my way, tracking me down and overtaking me. Thank You that You have blessings that are beyond my imagination. I believe that wherever I am, Your blessing is there. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

A Definite Plan

Today's Scripture

“This Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.” Acts 2:23, ESV

There was nothing random or happenstance about the betrayal, arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. God had already prearranged it all as a part of fulfilling His plan to bring us salvation. It may have seemed out of control and frightening to His disciples, but God preplanned how He was going to turn that for their good and our good.

Do you ever think that a setback, a disappointment, or a betrayal has caught God off guard? No, He wouldn’t have allowed it if it was going to stop your purpose. You just don’t see what He is doing behind the scenes. What He’s already planned in your future is bigger, better, more rewarding than you can imagine. When you understand this, you won’t live striving, straining, or worried. “How’s it going to work out?” You’ll live from a place of peace, a place of rest. You’re confident that your Creator has a “definite plan” for you. Your job is to keep being faithful, keep living with excellence and integrity, and you’re going to walk into all that’s already been prepared for you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that when things seem out of control in my life, You have preplanned how to turn it to my good. Help me to stand firm in my faith in the times when nothing seems to make sense. I declare that I’m going to keep being faithful, keep doing the right thing, and living from a place of peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Check Your Shoes

Today's Scripture

Yet the LORD says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.” Deuteronomy 29:5, NIV

Stuck in the wilderness for forty years because of their disobedience, the Israelites complained over and over that nothing good was happening and they hadn’t seen the miracle of entering into the abundance of the Promised Land. Yet their clothes and sandals never wore out. There were no grocery stores, yet they never missed a meal. They weren’t trained in warfare, yet they defeated armies. They didn’t realize they were in the middle of a miracle. God was sustaining them, protecting them, not letting enemies defeat them.

Perhaps you’ve been praying and believing, but your child hasn’t turned around, your business hasn’t taken off, you’re still taking the treatment. God hasn’t delivered you from it, but He is taking you through a desert season, sustaining you right now, holding back what should defeat you. You thought you’d have your answer by now, but have you noticed that your shoes haven’t worn out, that there’s been provision, that there’s been protection? There’s a miracle taking place, but you can’t always see it. Trust His timing, trust His ways. It’s on the way.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for the miracles You have put in my heart that haven’t happened yet. Thank You that I can keep trusting Your timing and Your ways and not be distracted by what I don’t see. I’m going to keep praising, keep thanking, and I know that what I’m believing for is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Put Your Faith Out There

Today's Scripture

“This very day the LORD will put you in my power; I will defeat you and cut off your head.” 1 Samuel 17:46, GNT

When David came against the giant Goliath, he could have looked at Goliath and said, “I don’t have a chance. I’ll never defeat him.” I’m sure those thoughts came to his mind, but David understood the principle that if he spoke those negative words, he was calling in defeat, limitations, and weakness. That’s why he stayed on the offensive and declared, “I will defeat you.” What was he doing? He was calling in victory, favor, and ability, which is exactly what happened.

When you face challenges, it’s so important what you’re saying. When you’re facing an illness, you need to call in healing and declare, “I will defeat this sickness. I will live and not die. The number of my days God will fulfill. I am healed. I am whole.” You have to call in greatness, call in new levels, call in courage. Put your faith out there. Call in your dreams, favor, abundance, opportunity, promotion, divine connections, wisdom, and creativity. You’re about to see the surpassing greatness of God’s favor. Get ready. What you’re calling in is on the way.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that my words give life to my faith, and I can use my words to prophesy my future. Thank You that I can use my words to call in healing, freedom, abundance, and strength. I will say what You say about me and what You promise in Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Was It Passed Down?

Today's Scripture

“He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” Luke 4:18, NIV

Some of the things we struggle with didn’t start with us. Studies show how some generational weaknesses—depression, addictions, anger, poverty, divorce, and low self-esteem—can be passed down through your family. I’m not saying to blame everything on the past, but you may struggle with negative baggage in your family line, something you inherited, a spirit being passed down. You didn’t choose to be raised in that difficult environment, to be looked down on, or to carry the weight of what was passed down—the guilt, the shame, the anxiety, the insecurity. But you have to deal with the consequences of it, and you may not be strong enough to break the generational baggage on your own. You’ve tried, but your willpower is not enough. The good news is that Jesus declares your freedom, your oppression being broken, your victory over whatever was unfairly put on you. If you receive it, He will defeat and overcome those generational weaknesses. The enemies you see today you will see no more.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that Jesus has proclaimed my freedom and release from generational weaknesses that I struggle with. Thank You that what has hindered me in the past is not going to hinder me anymore. I believe my chains have been broken and victory is mine. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Not Next Week or Next Month

Today's Scripture

This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24, NKJV

Throughout his life, David had all kinds of reasons to live negative and discouraged—armies attacking, King Saul trying to kill him, people betraying him, his own son even trying to take the kingdom from him. But when he could have been complaining, he made the decision in the midst of all that adversity: “These troubles and bad breaks are not going to take my joy and cause me to live sour. The Lord made this day for me to rejoice and be glad in it. I’m not waiting until things improve—not next week or next month. I’m rejoicing today.”

Anyone can be joyful when everything is going their way, when they’re getting good breaks. The test comes when people do you wrong, when life throws you a curve, when the medical report is not good. If you’re going to keep your joy, you can’t wait to see how you feel or if things are going your way. You have to be proactive and take your stand as David did and say, “My God made this day. Come what may, I will rejoice today.”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You have given me this day as a gift to live for You. Thank You that my happiness is not dependent upon anyone else or upon my circumstances. I will rejoice today, I will be glad today, and I will make the most of this day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
