"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Reportedly 30 Democrats in swing districts are having some worries about an impeachment vote hurting their chances for reelection. Wonder how many Pelosi will let vote "present" or no? It could become a empty victory if they vote to impeach and then lose the majority in the House.
Also being floated is a motion to censure the President instead of impeaching a man who only has another year to serve.

The Incredible Shrinking Impeachment
The Democratic grounds for ousting Trump are weak—and damaging to constitutional norms.
By The Editorial Board

So that’s it? That’s all there is? After all the talk of obstruction of justice, collusion with Russia, bribery, extortion, profiting from the Presidency, and more, House Democrats have reduced their articles of impeachment against President Trump to two: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Honey, we shrunk the impeachment."...

How Should The Senate Deal With An Unconstitutional Impeachment By The House
by Tyler Durden
Zerohedge.com 12/11/2019
www.zerohedge.com/political/how-should-s...al-impeachment-house
Authored by Alan Dershowitz via The Gatestone Institute,

If the House of Representatives were to impeach President Trump on the two grounds now before it, the senate would be presented with a constitutional dilemma.
These two grounds - abuse of power and obstruction of Congress - are not among the criteria specified for impeachment. Neither one is a high crime and misdemeanor. Neither is mentioned in the constitution.
Both are the sort of vague, open-ended criteria rejected by the framers.

They were rejected precisely to avoid the situation in which our nation currently finds itself.

Abuse of power can be charged against virtually every controversial president by the opposing party.

And obstruction of Congress - whatever else it may mean - cannot extend to a president invoking privileges and then leave it to the courts to referee conflicts between the legislative and executive branches.
Hamilton feared that vague criteria would allow a majority of the House to impeach a president from the opposing party just because they had more votes than the president's party.

Double edged sword anyone? A few years ago Senator Harry Reid changed the rules on the Senate approval of judges. Making it easier for a President to get his picks approved. This backfired for the Democrats during the Trump administration, the courts are being filled with partisan judges that will still be deciding important rules of law for the next thirty years.

The Democrats and the mainstream media have been searching for ways to impeach Donald Trump ever since he has been elected and now it is coming down to a phone call. Does the next Democrat POTUS want to be watching his back for his entire term just waiting for Republicans to pounce on a phone call? Or sending guns to Mexican drug cartels? Or sending billions of dollars to nations that support terrorism?

Okay, Fred, tell me why Trump won't release the actual transcript of the phone call? Why is he not complying with subpoenas? Why won't he let White House officials testify? It doesn't come down to just "one phone call." It's become more than that.

What is Trump hiding? Why won't he cooperate? If he is innocent, why not show us?
